problem with istallation

  • when I try to install wordpress I receive an error on this file

    wp-includes/wp-db.php

    the error is :

    Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /hsphere/local/home/bruceg/inspired-evolution.com/wordpress/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 348

    I didn’t change anything in the file (was I supposed to). Just unzipped and uploaded to server. Now trying to run :

    wordpress/wp-admin/install.php

    any suggestions?
