• I’ve been trying to install WP locally so i can work on it off line before uploading to my server. However it dosent work, i have followed the instructions in the instal guide, but i get this error:

    Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    * Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    * Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    * Are you sure that the database server is running?

Im using WAMP5, any advice would be grateful, thanks

  • Check your root security settings ?

    I wrote this for Xampp
    https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/xampp/

Check to make sure that the MySQL service is running, try stopping and then re-starting the MySQL service.

And make sure you are using the proper settings for the database connection…

    1. WP will not work without a domain.
    2. What is a “FTP file”? Never heard of it before…

    the path is / public_ftp / wp-admin / install.php
Don’t even try. It will not work.

I don’t see anything related to the OP (=original poster).

Unless you’re using a local server, in which case you can try localhost/pathtowp/wp-admin/install.php
