Problem with migrating wordpress change url

  • Hi,

    I’m trying to migrate WordPress website from Server A to Server B and change URL from olddomain.com to newdomain.com at the same time.

    I have followed step by step instruction from https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Moving_WordPress. And also used Migrate DB plugin after I found old url in some of the tables in DB. I have done the whole process twice (deleted files and DB before migrating second time) in case if I made any mistakes in a first go.

    Currently when I type in new url martakamilla.com it redirects to old url martawalenda.com Also when I enter user and password at martakamilla.com/wp-admin it doesn’t log in.

    I hope someone will be able to help me.

  • Suggest that you install the plugin “DUPLICATOR” on your old site. It will take you through all the steps in your move. You will want to remove all the files on the new site (except “wp-config.php”), and also empty the database, but the plugin will give you the instructions you need.

    It helped… almost.

    I can access /wp-admin martakamilla.com/shop martkamilla.com/blog etc but main page is still redirected to old domain martawalenda.com

    Where can I check? There is nothing about old domain in wp-config or .htaccess

    Where can I check?

    – Check your menus
    – download a backup of your database, search for your old domain name, figure out where it is and hence find and fix it from the Dashboard.
    – Download all your theme files, search them.

    I can’t find it in your pages (viewed a few in firebug), search found nothing.
    Can you post a link to a page which has the bad link which takes you to the old site ?
