    Here is my problem:

Under appearance > menus there is nothing listed under “Pages.” It only says, “No items.”

If I select the main ‘Pages’ option on the dashboard I can see all of my pages listed, as they should be. I can get new pages and add them into a menu by linking directly to the page URL. If I should go to edit a page, however, I can not select a parent page. Under ‘Page Attributes’ all I have is an option for ‘Template’ and ‘Order’. The ‘Set Parent’ option is completely missing. Also, under my theme settings, where I can select my blog page, the drop down menu shows no available pages.

Doing a Google search has revealed that people commonly experience these issues when they have no pages set to ‘Public’. This is not my issue, all my pages have been set to public.

I have tried disabling all plugins and have tried different themes. All have the same result. I have re-installed and the issue persists. Also, I don’t think it is a server issue. Other wordpress sites I have running on the same server using the same themes work just fine.

Assuming it must be a database issue, I have dropped the entire database and restored from a backup when everything was working properly. Still, the same problem.

I made not changes to the settings, performed any updates, or installed any plugins between when things were working fine and when they stopped working.

    Any suggestions?

have you created a menu to add pages into?

have you created a menu to add pages into?

Yes. This isn’t a new site, everything used to be working fine. The menu that I had before is still there, and pages already added to the menu show up. However, if I remove those pages from the menu I can not add them back. Any new pages I create are unable to be added to the menu either.

There is also the issue of not being able to select a parent page under ‘Page Attributes’ or having any pages show up on the dashboard under my theme settings to select as a blog page.

All these things were working, but suddenly stopped for no apparent reason.

    What is the url?

    What is the url?

The site is an adult website- I’m not sure what the rules are on sharing a URL to a site with heavily adult content on it.

ok, so the basic questions are:

can you provide a link to your site?
what version of wordpress is it?
    what plugins are you using?
what theme is your site using?

    ??

    • URL is hdwetting.com (adult content warning)
    • It is WordPress version 4.0
    • For plugins I am using IntenseDebate, Jetback, and Restricted To Adults. I have tried deactivating and un-installing all plugins and still have the same issue.
    • The theme is ‘Dejavu’ form My Site My Way. However, switching to other themes has not resolved the problem.

You have to use NSFW in the title and tag it as such.

ok, intense debate plugin hasn’t been updated in over 2 years and is not compatible with wordpress 4.0, restricted to adults hasn’t been updated in nearly 4 years.

that could be your problem. deactivating them isn’t enough, they still load a bunch of stuff into the site ready for you activate them, you need to delete them as they’re antiques and security risks.

as for the theme, it’s a paid for theme so you’d need to get in touch with them for any issues that arise with it.

    delete those plugins asap!

I have de-activated and deleted those plugins. However, the problem still persists.

Also, I do not believe this is an issue related to the theme. Switching to the WordPress 2014 or 2013 theme, the issue still persists. I have even completely uninstalled the MySiteMyWay theme and removed all files associated with it. No luck ??

have you cleared your browser cache to see if the changes have taken effect?

have you cleared your browser cache to see if the changes have taken effect?

Yes, I have. Every step of the way, as I have tried something that I hope will fix the problem, I have cleared my browser cache before checking to see if it worked.

hmm… i’ve done some checking and your theme should be safe on v4.0, if the outdated plugins are gone and all your others are current versions and compatible then i can only assume it’s a hosting issue as we’ve covered all of the main wordpress culprits.

    who are you with?

    Thread Starter TVGuy

    (@tvguy)

Hosting is with Exmasters. However, I do have three other WordPress sites on the same server, two of which even use the same theme, and they are all working fine.

if you’ve got a cpanel with your hosting maybe check and repair on the database. if you can’t add anymore pages to menus then maybe the menu information in the database is corrupt…
