Problem with photo and text aligning in a table

I canNOT for the life of me figure this out.

I’ve insert a simple table – one row, two columns.
I have an imagine on the left hand column and text on the right hand column.

My problem is that the text on the left won’t align directly across from the image. The text starts on the line below where the picture ends.

So what I end up with is two long columns. The left one has an image at the top with lots of space underneath, and the right has lots of space at the time, with text underneath.

All I want is for the image and the text to appear alongside of each other, but no matter what I try, nothing works.

Suggestions, anyone? Thanks!
