Problem with Placeholder Image When Editing a Page or Post

  • Hi,

    1. i have a problem with Placeholder Image When Editing a Page or Post:

    when i add a gallery / album into a post / page edit screen is does not show as a ‘photograph’ image, instead it shows a very small black and white square that looks like it has a broken b/w image in it.

    when i update and go to page, it will show the gallery / album.

    but i am also having issues with those on the posts / pages.

    2. i have ‘thick box’ settled, as this is the only one that works – the others light box types more or less lay one type of gallery over the other.

    3. i cannot or enable the likes as show in the documentation https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/basic-slideshow/nggallery/thumbnails

    4. there are other problems too, with say the compact album & extended album – when i click on either, the whole page goes to the top, and then… well. to be honest i’m not going to use that anyways.

    i have spent many hours going through each doc in the docs and test running each.

    why can’t my thumbnail galleys look https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/basic-slideshow/nggallery/thumbnails and why do i have that broken looking tiny image instead of a photo image on my edit page?.

    btw, my nextgen plugin Version 2.0.31 is up to date.

    do i need to get another nexgen plugin to add to the one i have? or is it a problem with the nexgen plugin Version 2.0.31 that i’m having..these problems :/

    i do have jetpack also with the carousel activated . but this would not cause a conflict surely?

    @joanwalsh – What you appear to be describing is often caused by another plugin conflicting with NextGEN Gallery (or other plugins as well).

    Have you checked to see if there is a plugin conflict? If you have tested all of your plugins and are still seeing these issues then please submit a Bug Report (https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/) here so we can get a better look at what is happening on your site.

    thanks a mil Cais for getting back to me.

    i will do that, first test the plugins and follow up if still haveing problems.

    (i only installed the nexgen a few weeks ago, and so only have a 30 or so photos uploaded using the nexgen gallery to test it. so if needs be if i need to reinstall it, i wont mind loosing the photos, and starting over)

    …i just have to find out ‘how to’ test all the plugins.. i know how to deactivate all of them and then activate them again. will have to google a ‘how to test plugins/ plugin conflict’.

    Advanced Troubleshootings:

    5. “If you’re using a custom WordPress Theme, try using one of the default WordPress Themes to see if your issue is Theme related. If it is, contact the Theme developer for assistance. “

    done. i changed my pinboard theme back to twenty twelve = same problems there. ( though there seems to be a problem with pinboard theme using jetpack carousel. have one test galley on test post page using jetpack carousel.)

    6. Deactivate all your Plugins to ensure they’re not causing the problem. Reactivate the problematic one. If it works, there maybe a conflict. Activate the others one-by-one and test the site to see if the problem ceases or returns, which may indicate the conflicting Plugin.

    done – i deactivated all and activated just the nextgen gallery plugin = problems still there.

    so i will send you a bug report next.

    i sent bug report yesterday with links to post page.

    had deactivated nexgen plugin for a while for tests – reactivated now.

    same problems persist as i wrote about above.

    changed thick box to fancy box – problem it shows another box behind it. where is that box from ?

    changed pinboard theme to test in twenty twelve theme – problem with box behind fancy box gone. conflict with pinboard theme? (i wrote to them, nothing so far, but it is the weekend)

    other problems still persist.

    and i dont know where the gallery light box is to select that is shown as an example in nexgen gallery docs.
