problem with putting website in live

    Hi everyone,

    I’m starting by saying, I’m a beginner in wordpress. I decided to replace my old unresponsive website to a new one made in wordpress. I kept the old (URL) address. I built the new website on wamp.I created a new folder and i moved everything properly to my live server. I didn’t delete all the files in old website folder. when I type the (URL)/wp-admin, it dispays “Not Found
    The requested URL /wp-admin was not found on this server.
    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request”
    don’t know what wrong. please help!

    Just moving your files wont work, Since WordPress need a database to fetch information from. I would recommend you to go through this page

    thanks for replying patilswapnilv.
    I did create a new database, new user, new password, and I imported the database from wamp(phpmyadmin) to the live server(phpmyadmin) I also did apply privelegies to the new database that I imported. when i type the url, the old website displays.

    my question is how to disable .htaccess?
    after reading this:
    “Keeping Your Domain Name and URLs
    Moving your domain without changing the Home and Site URLs of your WordPress site is very simple, and in most cases can be done by moving the files.

    If database and URL remain the same, you can move by just copying your files and database.
    If database name or user changes, edit wp-config.php to have the correct values.
    If you want to test before you switch, you must temporarily change “siteurl” and “home” in the database table “wp_options” (through phpMyAdmin or similar).
    If you had any kind of rewrites (permalinks) setup you must disable .htaccess and reconfigure permalinks when it goes live.”
