    Hello,

We have a problem with the caching part of the plugin.
Our old site had the URL structure without the trailing slash.
We added redirects from the old pages to the new (/site-link -> /site-link/) but when the pages are cached the redirects don’t work.
For example: /contact and /contact/ are the same page.
Can we somehow force the trailing slash from the plugin?

    Thanks in advance.

  • @devopti Could you please try to purge the cache and then try to preload the urls and then check if the redirects works?

We tried to purge and preload but its the same.
We also tested on different hosting setups (Apache/Shared, Nginx/VPS) but it always acts the same and all the pages/posts have the double URL (with and without trailing slash).

    Hello there,

    Sorry to hijack this post.

Our marketeer noticed the same issue. Upon doing some debuggin I came to the conclusion that when I disabled “WP-Optimize – Cache, Clean, Compress”. the issue went away.

Any idea how this is happening?

    EDIT:
We also did clear the cache and ran a preload, without success.

The problem with this is that this generates duplicate content (two pages of the same), on with “/” at the end and one without. Google pushines for this ??

@arnedb @devopti We will try to reproduce the issue on our end and update you with our findings

    @harshad Thanks for the update!

@arnedb No problem we will keep you posted

    Hello there,

I was wondering if you have an update regarding this matter?

    Kind regards,
    Arne

@arnedb We are not able to reproduce the issue, it works as expected on our side, would you please explain to us the steps to reproduce the issue?

@bornforphp I have set up a clean WP install (Apache/VPS) with only the WP-Optimize plugin added and cache activated.

When the cache is generated (by user or by preload) it creates two pages:
    1. https://test.devopti.com/page-sample/
    2. https://test.devopti.com/page-sample
*the second one should redirect to the first one

It is the same for posts, categories etc.
If you need more information please let me know.

    Kind regards

    @devopti

I also did some more testing and I come to the same conclusion. barebones install leads to this behavior.

    Kind regards.

    Hello there,

I have to ask. Do you have any plans of addressing this issue? It’s really hurting us SEO wise. I love this plugin for its accesiblity, but we have to temporarily switch to another caching plugin till this issue is resolved.

I was also able to replicate this issue on a blank box.

    Kind Regards,

@arnedb You said the barebones install leads to this behavior, could you please deactivate it and check if it works as expected?

I can confirm that there is no URL problem when the plugin (or cache function) is disabled.

Same, disabling the plugin does redirect non slash urls to slash urls.
