I’m having some problems with the shortcode for the simple text link. When added, the price/text do not appear in the published post, and the shortcode seems to actually swallow all the text between that shortcode and the next link in the post. Any idea what’s going on, and how to fix it?

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi,

That doesn’t sound right, can you post the shortcode you are using?

If you are using a template other than one of the defaults can you post the content of that too?

    Thanks for trying the plugin,

    Paul

Thanks for your quick response, Paul! Here’s the shortcode I’m using:

    [amazon asin=<ASIN Number>&text=<link text>]

It’s just copy/pasted from the Quick Start section of the Amazon Link plugin “Description” page. When I used the shortcode, I plugged in the product ASIN without changing the link text, so it looked like this:

    [amazon asin=<B001KN954S>&text=<link text>]

I’m also seeing that putting in the shortcode does some strange things to the formatting when viewing that post–the right sidebar widgets somehow end up disappearing from the sidebar and instead displacing the comments section on the bottom, and the “Comments” text ends up at the top of the sidebar.

Since I was using that shortcode, I haven’t even touched the templates section. Could that be connected to these issues?

    Thank you again!

    Hi,

    Sorry my instructions aren’t great!

You need to replace the _whole_ of <ASIN Number> with the ASIN. So the correct shortcode should be:

    [amazon asin= B001KN954S&text=Amazon]

Those extra ‘<‘ characters were probably messing up the HTML in the page, hence all the other weird formatting issue you are getting.

    Hope that helps,

    Paul

That fixed the formatting issues. Thanks so much for your help!
