• Hi,

When someone makes an order and his/her address contains an apostrophe (for example : “rue d’Archambaud 20”), there is a “bug” in the order details in WooCommerce (in the backend): it adds a “\” just before the apostrophe in “Address line 1”. For example: “rue d’Archambaud 20” becomes “rue d\’Archambaud 20” in “Address line 1” (in the billing details and in the shipping details). Maybe this problem also exists for “Address line 2”, I did not test it.

Could you please correct this for the next versions of WooCommerce?

Thank you very much in advance.

    Hello fotske,

Thank you for contacting WooCommerce support.

I understand the issue with the added backslash in addresses containing an apostrophe, like “rue d’Archambaud 20.” This likely occurs due to how apostrophes are processed in the backend but shouldn’t affect the front end.

Could you please provide a screenshot?
I’ll review it and, if needed, reach out to the development team to address this.

Looking forward to your response. ??

    Hi @fotske,

I have tried to adding apostrophes (') in the Address field on my sandbox checkout page; however, I wasn’t able to reproduce the issue on my end, as shown below:

To check if this plugin or another third-party plugin/theme might be causing the issue, could you try running a full conflict test and recheck the issue? This involves:

    • Switching temporarily to a default theme, like Storefront.
    • Disabling all plugins except for WooCommerce.

It would also be helpful for us to review your site’s System Status report, as it can provide more insight into your site’s setup and help us pinpoint the cause of the problem. You can find the report under WooCommerce > Status. Click Get system report and then Copy for support.

Let us know if this resolves the issue or if there’s anything else we can assist with!

Did you make the test of a real order to obtain this result?

Is it “Address line 1” in the order details that you show on your screenshot?
