OK, I could find the problem. I had replaced the word ‘group’ with ‘space’ because I want to rename my network groups to spaces. Well, the word ‘group’ is used in many other cases by the system and that affected the layout.

The main problem I want to resolve with this plugin is related to that post: https://buddypress.org/support/topic/change-all-occurrences-for-group-slug/

While I have renamed top-level slugs with the buddypress methods, second level slugs can’t be renamed. Your plugin can rename them, but urls don’t work, because (I suppose) the fake url can’t call the real page.

    For example the plugin changes
    mysite.com/spaces/name_of_space/admin/**group-settings**/ to
    mysite.com/spaces/name_of_space/admin/**space-settings**/

but the url points to an error page.

Yes, the plugin replaces any match it finds. It doesn’t distinguish between HTML, CSS or JavaScript. I’m glad you figured out that issue.

As for changing URLs you are exactly right. Even if you change the URL as it appears in the code, the URL won’t work when you navigate to it because WordPress doesn’t “know” about this URL structure and can’t map it any content.
