• I run 5 WP sites which have been working well for some years. 3 of them were recently automatically updated to 4.8-EN_NZ and are working well (at present).
Both the other two sites were automatically updated to 4.8-EN only. A week after the update on one of these two sites the Public could access the Home page but as soon as they went from there onto any other page a 404 message was displayed. I contacted the hosting company who replaced the .htaccess file. It was then OK for another week but now has displayed the same problem and so has the (previously OK) other updated site. How do I change the Word Press update to 4.8-EN_NZ ? and is that likely to solve the problem?

Hi Jackie, sorry for the delay, in NZ and snoozing!!

    URL’s are: https://www.tasmangolf.co.nz and https://www.mobility4you.co.nz

I will obtain the .htaccess file from the C Panel of Tasman Golf.

I appreciate your help as I am more a simple designer, and very little a developer.

    /public_html/wp-content/plugins/akismet/.htaccess

    /public_html/wp-content/uploads/woocommerce_uploads/.htaccess

    /public_html/wp-content/uploads/wc-logs/.htaccess

    /public_html/wp-includes/.htaccess

Hi, again, Ropger1. Perchance, have you tried going to ‘Settings > Permalinks’, selected your permalink structure (looks like you’re using post name) & resaved?

& no worries re: your response. I suspect the time differential accounts for that. BTW, I’m a dev who uses a11y tech. Sounds like the roadwork near your biz is not having good effects. That’s not helpful, especially when the website is also not functioning well. I’m really sorry. I can’t help w/the upgrade, but I’ll sure do my best to help you w/your website.

    Hi Jackie,

Not been into settings > Permalinks but will do.

I don’t think the roadworks will affect us. They are about a mile away.

Thanks for your help greatly appreciated.

Hi Jackie, thanks for the advice. Settings> Permalinks> Re-save has fixed the issue, though I’m not sure why it occurred in the first place.

You are a gem. If I should have any more problems can I contact you direct? and if so at what email address?

I am a rather old computer immigrant and welcome the support of skilled people. Hope your day’s going great.

    Rgds
