In my multisite uploaded files of the main site (id=1) is uploaded in ../uploads/sites/ other site’s uploads go to ../uploads/sites/{id}/.
I changed upload directory of the main site to ../uploads/sites/1/.
Now I see that upload directory of sites signed up after the change are located in ../uploads/sites/1/sites/{id}/!
It looks like subsites always upload in a subdirectory of upload directory of the main site.
    How to change this?

How did you change the upload folder of Site #1?

sites → edit → upload path.
Please don’t tell me I have to change upload path of every site from now on! I look for an easy way.

The way Multisite (and WP) picks up on the children-site’s upload dirs is based off site #1, so …. yes.

But why did you want to change site ID #1?

I use a plugin “pro sites” which controls the upload space. But for the main site I cannot upload anything, because the used space of the main site is equal to sum of uploaded files of all of the network!

Oh, so that plugin is managing space by FOLDER size? Well that plugin is wrong ?? Also not really needed. Did you know you can control upload space per site natively?

    Go to yourdomain.com/wp-admin/network/settings.php

Scroll down to Upload Settings and change Site upload space. That sets a default.

THEN go to Network Admin -> Sites -> Edit site. Click on Settings tab. Look for “Blog Upload Space” – Customize THAT per site!

    Thank you.
The plugin is definitely wrong! maybe it’s fixed in a newer update.
I knew that way for specifying the upload space, but I wanted a more automated way to manage upload space.

Even an updated version hasn’t fixed the problem.
Now I have to change the “upload path” of every new site as they sign up.
