    Hello everybody,
I have a problem in uploading new images in the Library in my website.
Every time that I try to upload an image, appears this notice:
Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2016/11. Is its parent directory writable by the server

    could someone help me, please?
    thanks in advance

Try changing the permissions of the uploads folder using an FTP client, like Filezilla.

Login to your server using the FTP client, locate the wp-content/uploads folder, and right-click the uploads folder, select File Permissions from the menu.

Check all boxes apart from the bottom Write box, this should give you the figure of 755 in the box marked Numeric Value. Click OK.

Try upload an image to your media library again, it should work fine.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for tour answer but
I did what you suggest and I didn’t find the uploads folder.
I went into htdocs folder >
    where i found wp-content folder.
    Into this there are >
    -languages (permission 755)
    -plugins (permission 755)
    -themes (permission 755)
    -upgrade (permission 777).
    is it a wrong path?

What are the permissions of wp-content folder?

Try creating an uploads folder yourself within wp-content to see if that helps.

I created an uploads folder into wp-content.
    wp-content has 755 as permissions
    uploads has 755 as permissions
    but again appears this:
Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2016/12. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

When changing the permissions of folders, did you check the Recurse into Subdirectories (Apply to directories only) checkbox below the permissions set?

Try this to see if it works.

Maybe I don’t understand what exactly you are suggesting me..
but I tried to check the box under the place where is located the code number.
There I checked the box >> includes subfolder
and the I checked the box >> apply only to folders
(i have filezilla in italian language)

    Is that what you means?
If so, I did but the box reset itself authomatically to the ancient position
    (solutions not active)
    Anyway it doesn’t work

Are you trying to set the permissions as 775 as I’ve just noticed you’re trying 755 which won’t make the folders writeable, they need to be at least 775.

    Permissions

Let me know if this works.
