    Hi,
I tried to upgrade Woocommerce to version 5.4.1 on my staging site (made with blogvault) but it seems that the update is not successful. the wordpress update page remains “blank” and if I try to reload the page I get the message: “Temporarily not available for maintenance. Try again in a minute.”

    Can you help me?

Thank you in advance for the help.

    Hi @talkiewalkie,

You’ll first want to check if the site comes back up if you disable the WooCommerce plugin.
If you’re not able to access WP-Admin at the moment, you can disable the plugin via FTP. Here’s an article that explains the process quite elaborately: https://kinsta.com/knowledgebase/disable-wordpress-plugins/#how-to-deactivate-a-single-wordpress-plugin-via-ftp

Once WooCommerce is disabled and you can access the site, you can try conflict testing to see if the underlying issue is a plugin/theme conflict with WooCommerce: Here’s how to do a conflict test: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/

Keep us posted on how everything goes.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I tried the solutions described in your article but I did not solve. I turned off theme and all plugins, except Woocommerce, but I still can’t figure out if the update was successful because, after starting the update, the page stops uploading and does not send any messages (it usually comes out written when the update is successful).
Unfortunately, I am also quite inexperienced and I really do not know what to do.

    Thanks for getting back @talkiewalkie.

Just to check on the issue, let’s procedurally look at 4 things:

    • After deactivating WooCommerce, did the site show correctly?
    • When you switched to a default WordPress theme like Twenty Twenty-One and deactivated all plugins apart from WooCommerce, did your site show correctly?
    • When you go to WP-Admin → Plugins, what’s the WooCommerce version?
    • Also, does the WooCommerce plugin seem to be working well or erratically?

*Feel free to redo any of the steps shared in the earlier reply if necessary to get the info for the above queries.

We’ll be happy to hear back from you.
    Thanks.

First, thank you for the answers.

    – After deactivating WooCommerce, did the site show correctly?
I have installed the update on a staging site. after the problem, i have deleted the staging site and created another.

    – When you switched to a default WordPress theme like Twenty Twenty-One and deactivated all plugins apart from WooCommerce, did your site show correctly?
No, the issue remain also after changing theme and deactivating plugins.

-When you go to WP-Admin → Plugins, what’s the WooCommerce version?
Blog vault support have checked by updating the Woocommerce plugin on a test restore of the backup it gives an error on waiting for the update to complete. But if they reload the page the plugin shows it is updated to the latest version i.e 5.4.1.

    Can you help me?

    Thanks for getting back.

It seems that your site is going to maintenance mode when updating WooCommerce and not coming back once the update is done. To get more details, kindly check the PHP error logs for any relevant logs.

Here are a few places to check for the error logs: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/finding-php-error-logs/

Let us know what you find.
    Thanks.

    Hey again!

That log you showed is a test log, not the fatal errors log.

Make sure you select the correct log from the dropdown menu there, and then hit the view button next to it. That will display the logs you are looking for.

    Hi,
I tried but in the drop-down menu no other logs come out, there is only the test one.

    Thanks for getting back.

In this case, kindly check the PHP error logs on the server. This guide will help you find them: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/finding-php-error-logs/#section-2

    * You can also request your host to assist with retrieving the logs.

We’ll be happy to be of further assistance once you’ve shared the relevant logs.
    Thanks.

Hi, I asked Blogvault for help with the PHP error log you asked me because I updated the woocommerce plugin on the staging site and not on my live site.

I send you the log as soon as they answer.

Hi, Blogvault customer support kindly passed me the error log.
How can I share with you the txt file?

    Hi @talkiewalkie,

Since you cannot upload the file here, you could consider either of these options:
    * Upload the file to a cloud storage service like Google Drive and share a link to it
    * Feel free to paste parts of the log here. You could post just the most recent errors, that is, from the time you started experiencing the issue.

    Thanks.

    Thanks for sharing that.

I see the logs are related to your database.

You may refer to this thread for context about the logged notices: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/1814532/1071-specified-key-was-too-long-max-key-length-is-767-bytes

Just to get more context about the issue, could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.? Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

    Thanks.
