• I was trying to upgrade to the latest version of WordPress and ran into a problem. I had to restore my sit via a backup and I am still struggling to get it working right. Once I restored my WordPress folder, my posts came back, but I can not log in to my Dashboard. When I try to log in, I get this error message: Your database is out-of-date. Please <upgrade>. <upgrade> is a hotlink to my upgrade.php file. When I click on it, I get a “Page Can Not Be Found” error. I have no idea what to do from here. I’m at a loss and don’t know how I can get my site working properly again. Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

  • Check the URL to make sure it’s correct. For example, if your blog used to be at mysite.com/wordpress/ and you moved it to mysite.com/ but haven’t updated the Options page to reflect this since last backup, then when you do a restore it’s thinking to find the upgrade.php at mysite.com/wordpress/upgrade.php rather than at its new location of mysite.com/upgrade.php.

Thanks. I don’t know what happened, but I just clicked around in my browser and somehow the main page came back up. At first, I couldn’t log in to my Dashboard through the link on my main page, but after clicking it a couple of times, it took me to the WP Upgrade page. I clicked the upgrade page, it upgraded on it’s own and it took me to the Dashboard. That’s a good thing. Now, though, when I look at my main page, I should have sections in the side bar: Recent Entries and a Links section. The Recent Entries are showing on the main page, but not the Links section. All of my links were restored and are present in the Dashboard, but I can’t figure out why they are not showing up on my main page.

Would have to see a link to your page…

Depends on what version of WP you were using before you upgraded. WP 2.1.2 has deprecated some of the links code. Have a look here and see if you are using a deprecated code:

I was trying to upgrade to 2.1 and that’s when my site crashed. I restored to 2.0, to a point prior to attemting to upgrade to 2.1, assuming everything would basically rest. Would that still affect the links code?

I’ve also just noticed that my Archives and About pages are showing up at the bottom of the page. They should normally be accessable through the About and Archives links at the top of the page. When I check them in Dashboard>Manage>Pages, it doesn’t even show that there are any pages created. Yet, when I click on one of the links at the top of the page, it takes me to that page, but the content that I had there before is gone.

I wasn’t even trying to upgrade and suddenly I’m getting this message. “Your database is out-of-date. Please upgrade.” it says. On my main page I’m also getting an “Internal Server Error” msg. Any ideas?

I just installed wpress and am getting this message… as soon as I logged in the first time, I never even got to the dashboard… I am wanting to use this for a client, but can’t get past this….

I have same problem, after I try to upgrade my 2.0 to 2.2.1 and it crashed, so I get it back to 2.0 script again, I can see the homepage with all the post but it stating “out of date” like that, when I try to login to dashboard.

what should I do with the database if it can’t be upgarde itself ?
