Problems after installation

I’m in the line with Clippergirl56. Just downloaded WP 3.5.1 Feb 2, 2013 and after uploading had exact same problems.

FYI:

Brand new fresh-as-rose directory and MySQL DB

When media (image) files are uploaded the thumbnails do not appear in media list(s), however they do get created and are listed when you check via FTP.

Using the Dashboard Re-install button did not help.
