Problems after moving to another host

    Dear Experts, Greetings!

    I recently moved my wordpress blog to another hosting. I now realize that I have done it wrong. I first downloaded all the backup from old host’s CPANEL only. Than I installed wordpress to new host and uploaded all the backup to this new one. A point to be note here is, I didn’t backed up any database from old host, I just downloaded whole bunch of files and uploaded it to new one. Now the problem is, Homepage of my website is opening like it was opening before transfer, but all other pages, posts, categories aren’t opening, and a twentythirteen theme page is opening instead. Any ideas to fix this problem.

    Note: I don’t have any access to the old host now.

    If you do not have a database backup of your site, you cannot restore your posts, pages, etc. Try to get a database backup from your old host.

    Shouldn’t it be in the backup which I downloaded?

    I don’t know if you have downloaded a complete backup including database. However, you may look through it as mostly hosts keep full backups.

    Well, there was a folder in my ftp named public_html, I downloaded it.

    Unless something extra was installed and used (like a database backup plugin) then that folder will not be enough. The database is not a file that can be downloaded and you probably don’t have the database…

    Means, I have lost my 1 year old blog..

    If you have nothing left with you, you can recover a lot of them from Google cached pages. Go here and use the dropdown with each link and select cache and copy the contents.
