Do you mean their is a new version off the theme?

Ok so what i can see from the url

    https://fireguardservices.com/franchise/about/

looks like their is a category called franchise with posts withing it want is your permalink structure.

    you can find this in

sorry, my question is how do i install a new theme? i have the new version but i cant seem to upload it, and the intructions that come with it are useless to me as i dont understand half of it!

as you can see from the site the main page works but all the others which should contain content now just have a slide 2 page, i have already checked out content is still saved in wordpress it just wont display properly.

to install a theme go to apperance->themes->install theme

Then upload you new theme is it in zip format?

    permalink stucture:
    Custom structure: /%category%/%postname%/
    and reading settings are:

    Front page displays

    Your latest posts

Blog pages show at most 10 posts
Syndication feeds show the most recent 10 items
For each article in a feed, show
For each article in a feed, show

    Full text

Encoding for pages and feeds The character encoding of your site (UTF-8 is recommended, if you are adventurous there are some other encodings)

i have copy and pasted as i wasnt sure what you wanted, removing the non used options

yes the theme is in zip format but when i try to upload it i get this error:
The uploaded file could not be moved to /home/vpsthesh/public_html/fireguardservices/wp-content/uploads/2011/02.

If you still have a version of the Theme installed, you first need to delete it before you can upload a new version. (This is true only if trying to upload a Theme’s ZIP file, as opposed to updating the Theme through the WordPress updater.)

are you faimialr with filezilla and ftp

if so unzip the folder and then ftp it up to /wp-content/themes

and like said above if their is already a folder named the same back it up delete it and then upload the new one.

try using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    (@jbeuscher)

to Chip Bennett: how do i delete it if its my current theme, there is no delete option?

to isimpledesign and keesiemeijer: no i am not but im just reading though the link sent by keesiemeijer

You have to deactivate a Theme (by activating a different Theme) before you can delete it from within the wp-admin.

Or, you can delete the Theme files using FTP, by deleting the following directory:

    \wp-content\themes\<theme-name>

    Thread Starter Jbeuscher

    (@jbeuscher)

    would FTP available in cpanel?

if i deactivate my theme will it delete all the modifications the previous person made? yes im very new to this!

If you prefer cPanel to FTP, then just use the filemanager in cPanel. You can accomplish the same things for your purposes here.

Deactivating a Theme doesn’t make any changes to it. Of course, since your next step will be to delete it, then yes, you’ll lose any changes you’ve made to the Theme.

(Alternately, you could back-up the Theme, by downloading it locally before deleting it.)

p.s. Jbeuscher I think, for some reason, the forum marked you as spam/bozo. I can see your responses via email notification, but they are not showing up here in the threads.

You may want to contact the mods to sort it out.
