I’ve had an independent installation of wordpress I’ve been using for my blog for some time now. I also have an old wordpress account that I used to post on someone else’s blog (I don’t use this anymore). I need to get WordPress stats up and running on my current blog, but apparently my current website’s blog username and password is not actually linked to a WordPress account and as such has no API Key. Of course, I need an API key to get stats working.

I’ve tried to set up my current blog’s username as a WordPress account, but am told that my email address is already being used (I imagine by my old WordPress account) preventing me from making an account.

Is there a way I can set up a new account for my current, independently installed blog, or do I need to link my blog to my old WordPress account? How?

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Thanks

Do you have your own domain? if so, set up a forwarding email address on that domain that forwards all emails received at that address to your real email address. Then you can use this new forwarding email address to get another API key. Any emails sent to it will go to your regular email address. Should solve the problem.
