I managed to use the posting by email using Word 2007 and 2010, but I need not depend on software installed, so I tried to use the post from WP.

I created an email account on https://www.aol.com *; successfully tested sending and receiving on my client e-mail program (Windows Mail in Windows Vista) and AOL webmail.

Then I went into my WP (panel -> options -> writing) and put POP and IMAP settings (besides ID and password); when I test both settings (POP and IMAP) at address

    https://www. [domain]. com.br / [wp-directory] / wp-mail.php

    the SAME message appeared:
    POP3 connect: Error []

Where am I going wrong (in email service, setup WP, WP version)?
Can I post on web screens of my WP, email program and AOL webmail if this helps answer the doubts.

    * This email service worked in my email client program and Windows, unlike others such as Gmail, Hotmail or paid particular email.

If you are using postie then wp-mail.php is not the page to use.

Instead go to Settings->Postie and click either (or both) “Test Settings” and “Run Postie”

Forgive me; when I use Postie (dashboard -> settings -> Postie -> “test config”) appears this message:

Friends, I put email in short mode (username) and full mode ([email protected]). I tried IMAP and POP protocols, too. Is there any email service or configuration recommended for “trial mode” of this plug-in?

    (@wayneallen-1)

When you click “Test Config” what message do you get under the “Mail Tests” heading?

For AOL the protocol is either POP3-SSL or IMAP-SSL

I’m not sure what you mean by “trial mode”

    Dear Wayne,
sorry to ask but, what your level of experience with the plug-in postie?

Forgive my mistakes with english, I wanted know if there is a default (or example) setting to use Postie (e-mail service recommended, among others indications).

Even if you can not help, thank you just the same.

I am the maintainer of the plugin, that is my level of experience.

Are you using the IMAP or the IMAP-SSL setting? It is unclear from your previous posts and IMAP-SSL is required for AOL.

    Thread Starter wallyvianna

    (@wallyvianna)

    I’m using IMAP in AOL.
I put at internet all settings that I’m using with AOL E-mail:
    https://www.wallyvianna.com.br/tmp/postie/
I accept suggestions about a good (free) e-mail service to use with postie, or the right settings, if the best solution… Thanks for attention and patience!

    (@wayneallen-1)

For AOL you need to use IMAP-SSL not just IMAP.

    Thread Starter wallyvianna

    (@wallyvianna)

Wayne, you know to configure this IMAP-SSL in AOL or WordPress (or where I can find this information)? If don’t is just to say, we close this topic and I will search this information in other forum. Thanks.

    (@wallyvianna)

    I discover at
    https://kb.mozillazine.org/Using_AOL_Mail_with_Mozilla
the configuration ports for AOL e-mail (inclusive IMAP-SSL); the settings that I’m using already are for IMAP-SSL: port 993.
Someone in WP Community has some suggestion to help?
