    Hi,

I am having some problems when I upload my local instant wordpress data to the host server. I use the plugin wp migrate db, which changes all the local urls to the website domain urls. Not sure if it is the plugin or the theme, but the media address set themselves from https://127.0.0.1… to http:https://…. ie the address is invalid because of the double http at the beginning.

I can change this manually for the images used in the employee section, but the logo does not give you the ability to manually change the address and so doesn’t appear.

Any idea how I can set the correct image file location for the logo, and also the favicon and apple touch icons?

    Thanks
    Adam

  • Hello,

Not sure why the plugin did that, but I guess the obvious solution would be the fastest: reupload those images on your live server. Other than that you could make database changes but I see no point in doing that.

Hi thanks for the advice, I tried uploading the logo via the custom menu on the live server, but it still creates a link http:https://

The strange thing is that it has the reference https:// (ie the correct one) in the media library.

So why would it work differently on my local version to the live version?

A way around this would be if I could type the link to the media file rather than have to drag it into the area. Can this be done relatively easily?

Also as a slight aside, I think it would be useful to be able to use a file from the media library when selecting the images in the general section of the custom menu area. At the moment it appears that you have to upload from an external source (although again I may have missed something)

That’s strange. Try checking the Media section in your admin area for anything unusual.

Can’t say why it works differently, as this is not a theme issue.

You could create a child theme and overwrite the header.php file, that’s where all the images for logo, favicon etc are used.

I think this will change soon, the image uploading controls are built into WP, we just called them from inside the theme.

Thanks, i’ve manually copied in the links to a child header.php and it works fine.

I have another question but I’ll close this thread and start a new one.
