problems uploading images to change the header

    Please Help! I have recently installed WordPress and haven’t made any changes to the code. I am registered as ‘administrator’ so should have the rights to make certain changes to my pages. The problem is that I’m not able to upload my own image to replace the Header images that comes with the themes (I have tried Delicate 3.5, Twenty Eleven 1.2 and Twenty Ten 1.2) when I click on the ‘upload your own image’ button this message comes up “Unable to create directory /hsphere/local/home/amandla/michellehedberg.net/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/10. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

    I would be very grateful if someone could help me with this.

  • Try changing the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767, 775 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.

    Thank you so much for your advice, I’ve been away for a week but I’m back in front of the computer again now ready to tackle the problem. I hope it works…

    How do you change the permission? (I have a mac) When I click on the ‘get info’ button it says that I have permission to Read & Write and that staff and everyone have permission to Read only. I can’t find anywhere where any numbers are mentioned…

    You need to change the permissions on the remote server – not on your computer. If you don’t know how to do that, try asking your hosts for assistance.

    Per the other post, this is only happening on the CHILD theme?
