Hi there, this WP Multilang is extremely useful, but when I try to sync the products to Facebook and Instagram via the Facebook for WooCommerce plugin that comes along with WooCommerce 4, some products are in 1 language, while the other products are in the other languages. Also, the WP Multilang shortcodes are displayed in the product description.

Product Catalog displayed in Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kwinana.crystal/shop/
    The product description: https://www.facebook.com/commerce/products/2862101577231577/
Product Catalog displayed in Instagram (please view in mobile, no direct link): https://www.instagram.com/kwinana.crystal/

The product sync reports no problem at all. When I edit one of the products and manually sync the products via the Facebook for WooCommerce plugin, the edited product title becomes English, but some random products’ titles (which are originally displayed in English) become Chinese.

How do I force the Facebook product catalog to display English only? Currently, I have English and Traditional Chinese.

The WordPress address is at: https://www.thekwinana.com

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @raptorhk,

Thanks for getting in touch about our Facebook for WooCommerce plugin. I’m happy to help out here ?? or help gather the necessary information to contact Facebook directly.

Could you let me know what default language your Facebook catalog is in? You can do so by following these steps:

    1. Log into https://business.facebook.com/ and select your business
    2. Then go to your Catalog Manager via the shortcut here: https://cloud.skyver.ge/4guJXjm4
    3. Select your catalog and go to Settings > General > Default Language and Country as you can see here: https://cloud.skyver.ge/04uOvYqN

Could you please let me know what that’s set to?

    Thanks!

The original value is empty. Currently, I set to “Hong Kong, English”.

After setting the value, I clicked “Product Sync” again, and the problem still exists. Half of the products are in Chinese.

Also, the currency is appearing to be incorrect. Some are in Australian dollars, some are in US dollars.

In the WooCommerce, only USD and HKD are set, via the plugin “WOOCS – WooCommerce Currency Switcher”.

    @raptorhk thanks for confirming that!

For one of the products in Chinese, could you please try resetting the metadata in WooCommerce for Facebook? Here’s how:

    1. In WordPress, go to Products and select the affected product
    2. For that product, on the right column, scroll to the Facebook module and click reset metadata.
    3. Then go the same product in your Facebook catalog and see if that changes anything.

For the currency, sometimes, because the sync is called from the server-side as a background task, the multi-currency plugin can choose the wrong currency.

For instance, if the multi-currency plugin was geolocating the user based on IP, and the server was based in EU, it might choose EUR as the product currency.

I’m not sure about your case if that’s the problem here, though we have a snippet that would help with this. It forces the currency for all Facebook products.

Could you let me know if you’d like to try the snippet? So I could send it to you with instructions.

    Thanks!

    Sorry for late reply.

After resetting the “Facebook metadata”, the problem persists. Nothing changed in the Facebook catalog.

Yes, I would like to try the snippet.

Should I disconnect from Facebook via the plugin, delete the Facebook Catalog, plugin and re-install everything?

I even tried to change the price, the product in the FB catalog does NOT reflect the changes at all.

    @raptorhk

Thanks for your update! Disconnecting, deleting the catalog, re-installing is an option though I’m happy to share the snippet also! Please note a couple of things:

    – I’m afraid that customizations such as this are not covered under our support policy, so implementing this or modifying it isn’t something we can assist with.
    – If you use custom snippets, please be sure you know how to add custom code to your site.

You can view the snippet here: https://gist.github.com/simonporter007/ef6b08b71dbc4432b6af469aefc557b3#file-sv_fb_for_woocommerce_hardcode_currency_for_all_products-php

Please make sure to change the currency in the snippet to your currency!

Could you please try that and let me know if the issue persists?

    Thanks!
    Christine

No, the situation gets worse. I tried to reinstall the plug-in and reconnect the connection, it fails.

The connection is connected successfully, but the Pixel is not receiving data.

Haven’t tried the snippet yet, as the catalog is now missing from FB and IG.

    What should I do next?

    Hi @raptorhk

Thanks for your update here, I’m so sorry to hear that the issues that went beyond the original issue!

First, could you please let me know if clicking the Manage Connection button on your Facebook dashboard takes you successfully to Facebook Business Manager?

    Here are the steps:
    1. In WordPress, go to WooCommerce > Facebook
    2. Step on the Manage Connection button

Could you please let me know the results? This would help us figure out if Facebook is successfully connected to your store.

    Thanks!

Seems normal too. I’m out of ideas.

    @raptorhk thanks for confirming!

For your catalogs, could you please make sure that WooCommerce is added as a data source?

    Here’s how:

    1. Please log into your Facebook catalog here: https://www.facebook.com/products/
    2. Then go to Data Sources and confirm that you have data sources connected from WooCommerce here: https://cloud.skyver.ge/Blu1lLnv

Could you update me with that info?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I think you found the culprit.

The WooCommerce App does not exist in the Data Source list. Please see the screenshot below:

    What can I do now?

@raptorhk So it doesn’t look like there’s a Facebook catalog connected to your shop.

In your WordPress Facebook dashboard, could you please check if there’s a link in your catalog field?

    Here’s how:
    1. Log into WordPress
    2. Go to WooCommerce > Facebook
    3. Check if there’s a link in the catalog field, like this: https://cloud.skyver.ge/geuqLjz7

Could you please let me know what you find?

    Thanks!
    Christine
