Problems with “About Me” page–help PLEASE!!

I cannot figure out what I’m doing wrong and need the experience of a WordPress-er to help me see my mistake. Please.

I am creating the “about me” page with the ‘create page’ function on the ‘manage pages’ tab. I’m the only user/administrator and have had no problem setting up the page on my first blog. (The problem is on my second blog in case I wasn’t clear.)

But now, I create the page, edit the HTML, insert the picture, save it, and…NADA! When I refresh to see if the changes ‘took’ or ‘stuck,’ I get a link that says ‘edit this link’. ?? The page number the URL brings up is the same as the categorization of the page in the management tab…

What am I missing? I know it’s a small thing, but I’d really like to solve this and not have a broken link before I announce and go live on the site.
