    Hi team,
Last night I decided to install the plugin ‘ WP Content Copy Protection & No Right Click (PRO)’. It got good reviews and it seemed OK to buy, install and activate it. This plugin places a watermark and copyright message on all or selected images. It seemed safe. There was a LONG settings page and I decided to see what it did without changing anything. When I saved, a Wordfence warning came up telling me that this was untrusted software? It was not immediately clear to me where the warning came from but it woke me up. I checked my website and did not see anything appear in the way of copyright notices.
Then I decided it was too late in the evening to investigate, so I de-activated the plugin and went to bed without further checking.
Today I showed my website to someone and to my horror it was chock a block full of very big copyright notices. I raced home and checked and expected to find that I forgot to de-activate this plugin (the paid pro version) but it was not even active. I decided to delete it. But then…. all pictures disappeared from my website!
I have now done a restore from a backup which, unfortunately contains the plugin, albeit de-activated. I have opened a support ticket with the makers of the plugin but have not heard back.

So what does Wordfence have to do with this?
Well, I wonder if this plugin has a conflict with Wordfence. I am sorry that I did not take a screenshot of the Wordfence notification and that I don’t remember more detail

My question: does this plugin ring a bell? Is there anything you can do to help me? I could de-install Wordfence to see if that fixes the problem, but at this moment I am quite hesitant to make changes with the risk of making it worse.

Does the Wordfence notification sound familiar to you?

Any help would be much appreciated!!

    Nicky

    Hi @osnicky59,

Whilst naturally any intrusive copyright notices etc. appear to between you and the developers of the plugin, I think I have some insight into the message you’ve seen from Wordfence.

The PRO version of this plugin looks like it may need to be obtained separately from the www.ads-software.com respository (when you click Plugins > Add New) where the free version is available. If Wordfence is unable to verify the files or find an update directly on www.ads-software.com’s plugin repository, it may be reported as abandoned or a similar message. As long as you make sure to keep the plugin updated on your site with the latest version updates from the developer, this should be sufficient.

You may be able to ignore notices for this in your scan results if it keeps cropping up. If you feel this doesn’t quite cover your query, can you please obtain the exact message you received the next time you see it and paste it here for me to look at?

    Thanks,

    Peter.

Thank you for your speedy reply.
I would definitely earmark this as an untrustworthy plugin.
They have finally responded with a solution, but I have asked for a refund. This is a plugin that is way too intrusive. I think it is no good when a plugin leaves a footprint after it has been de-activated and deleted.

I have had no response to get the refund, which makes it even more clear that this is not a trustworthy developer. If they do refund, I will let you know. I don’t mean to post things that are not untrue. But for now my experiences with this developer are sub-zero.

    Hi @osnicky59,

As part of the free plugin support service we can accept emails of site diagnostics but not continue support privately via that method. If you require assistance around your experience with this plugin/developer that you believe to not be legitimate and feel we should be aware of this, please contact genbiz @ wordfence . com

    Thanks,

    Peter.
