    Hi all –

Hoping someone can give me a few pointers here while I still have some hair left to pull out…

Firstly, ‘full disclosure’, my website is actually a WordPress dotcom hosted account rather than dotorg, but the forums and live help over there have both said they don’t really help with plugin issues, whereas I know from other sites I’ve managed that you guys have a much broader knowledge base…

So. The Problem: I’ve been trying for about four days now to integrate my website’s Woocommerce shop with Facebook using Facebook for Woocommerce plug in. Everything APPEARS properly synced, the catalogue is visible in catalogue manager with full details / images intact etc, but the products don’t appear in the shop. I’ve read a couple of posts from people with similar problems that suggested deleting the catalogue then deleting Facebook for Woocommerce and starting again over from scratch, but so far to no effect whatsoever. All I managed to do was generate another Facebook Pixel that doesn’t work.

By luck more than judgement I found Facebook’s ‘pixel helper’ and ‘pixel debug tool’. The first identifies the original pixel on my website as the one linked to the catalogue and that only one pixel is loaded, so that would all seem okay. The debug tool throws up the following error message about ‘missing fields’ (see attached image), but when I check my product descriptions they contain all of the ‘missing’ fields (id / availability / price) and all of these parameters are visible in the catalogue I can view in catalogue manager.

With regard to the id, I notice that the ‘group’ id and the ‘content’ id are the same, but as the debugger only says ‘id’ I have no idea whether this is a problem or not. But, in Woocommerce terms, all of the products are ‘simple’ with no variants at this stage, so they only have one id.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated, along with any suggestions on how to permanently delete all the additional pixels, ad manager accounts and business accounts this ‘simple connection’ process generates every time it doesn’t simply connect.

    Thanks in advance

OH PS: I saw that there’s a Facebook for Woocommerce forum on github and will ask there too, but at this stage I’m not sure if the problem is Facebook for WordPress, Woocommerce, Facebook page or me, so i’m trying to cover all bases!

Please ask in the Woo plugin specific area on wp.com.

Due to the differences between the various site hosting plans offered at wordpress.com and the self-hosted and self-installed version of WordPress supported here, you need to ask WordPress.com Support instead.

    Hey @oddly-active

I appreciate you’ve been going around in circles here so I want to give you the best advice.

    > OH PS: I saw that there’s a Facebook for Woocommerce forum on github and will ask there too, but at this stage I’m not sure if the problem is Facebook for WordPress, Woocommerce, Facebook page or me, so i’m trying to cover all bases!

I see you went through some of the setup with one of the WordPress.com Happiness Engineers in Live Chat and confirmed your setup from the WooCommerce side. The next step would be either that GitHub repository or the Facebook Advertiser centre.

The team at WooCommerce.com have a really great relationship with Facebook, and, as part of that, the Facebook Team have developed the extension you are using themselves. They’re also supporting the extension, providing help with getting it up and working the best way possible on your store.

You can get help with Facebook by using their support page on GitHub

You also can also find extensive documentation at the Facebook Adviser Help Center.

The things they are looking for when you contact them are:

    1. Facebook Page URL
    2. WordPress and WooCommerce version number
    3. Facebook Plugin version number
    4. How many products you have
    5. Types of products (i.e. anything besides simple/variable products won’t work)
    6. Do you have Duplicate SKUs in your system?
    7. What kind of customization plugins you’re using (if any)?

I hope this helps, have a great day!

If you are having trouble getting any progress, please reach out to the WooCommerce.com team directly with details and we can help with next steps.

    Thanks,

    Hi – thanks for replies

@sterndata – I don’t think there’s a woo-specific plug in area on wordpress.com. The app support links directly to the support forum here.If there is a ‘dot.com’ forum for plugins the live help engineer didn’t direct me to it and offered no help with the problem – he just (effectively) said contact Facebook (ha! like THAT’s an option!) or Facebook for Woocommerce plug in on github. I’m trying both, but posted here too in hopes somebody on the forum might have found an answer to similar problems. When I posted in the wordpress.com forum I was effectively told not to post there because the plan I’m on gives me live support!

@dougaitkin (ref 13747701-HC) – I have posted this on GitHub page too and have read through (and implemented) lots of pixel/feed-related suggestions on the facebook help files, but they’re so convoluted and difficult to navigate it’s a minefield! On GitHub there are many threads about similar issues, but the developers seem to have stopped responding to them. If you (or anyone else) knows a way of raising a ‘ticket’ that’ll get a response from any of the developers involved (WooCommerce/automattic, Facebook) I’d really appreciate the info. At the risk of sounding dumb the link you sent (which I’ve tried already) tells me what to send but doesn’t offer any obvious way to send it! I’ll try raising a new ‘issue’ but in the meantime any help from anyone who’s solved similar issues greatly appreciated.

Oh – one final thought: does anyone know of another FREE plug in I can try linking to Facebook with? It seems illogical with Facebook playing such a major role in e-commerce / instagram advertising that integration isn’t incorporated directly into Woocommerce, esp if the official plug in that Facebook offers can only pool a 1.5 star rating. I’m not being tight (mean) but the reality is that for the ‘service’ shop we’re running the cost of upgrading to a business account to access woocommerce and then having to pay another ten-fifteen a month for a reliable add-on plug in isn’t really viable.

Anyway, thanks for help so far and for any further advice anyone on the forum can offer!

    Hey @oddly-active

Have you posted on the GitHub forum? https://github.com/facebookincubator/facebook-for-woocommerce/wiki/Facebook-Support-on-GitHub

If you have, please link me to the post and I can have our contact chase this up. Do you run Ads or have any spend with Facebook Adverts?

    Thanks,

    Hi Doug –

Yes, I did post on GitHub but only, as here, to explain the problem. My plan this afternoon is to update that with the full details you outlined (steps 1 – 7 above) including some screen grabs. The GitHub thread is: https://github.com/facebookincubator/facebook-for-woocommerce/issues/1103#issuecomment-523113253

Have not as yet run ads or had any advertising spend with Facebook as the shop integration hasn’t worked! The plan was/is to look at ads once the shop is functioning, and to connect that up with Instagram too. One issue with the ‘delete and reinstall’ approach to fixing the problem (other than it doesn’t work) is that each overwrite of Facebook for Woocommerce plugin creates yet another ad account and another pixel, which at the very least makes identifying what goes where more problematic but worst case scenario may be actually exacerbating it. As well as ad accounts, ‘business manager’ proves equally convoluted, especially as you have to access it via a three click process from ‘commerce manager’ which isn’t yet available in the UK! In a nutshell, simply trying to get the plug in to connect has generated a host of poorly linked account and muddied the water even further. A simplified ‘connect to’ dialogue and the option(s) to remove rather than disconnect additionally created pixels and ad accounts would be much more user friendly…

Anyhow, heading over to add info the the GitHub thread very soon, so check there for full details a bit later, and thanks again for advice/taking an interest: https://github.com/facebookincubator/facebook-for-woocommerce/issues/1103#issuecomment-523113253
