  • Hi @plumwebsites,

    I am sorry to hear about the trouble you’re experiencing. I am happy to help out.

    The latest version of Sydney is currently 1.85. Can you try doing manual update to this version manually via FTP or cPanel’s site folder?

    > 2

    I’d like to check your site directly. But it requires username and password. Can you disable private access and set your site available for public?

    Hello Kharis
    Sorry for the delay. I havae reinstalled Sydney 1.85 manually via FTP but it did not make a difference. I tried a couple other things too but it made no difference. How may I securely get you the wp-admin information?

    Hi @plumwebsites,

    No worries. Thank you for getting back.

    I need more information to help narrow down the cause of the problem.

    * Can you select a font from Appearance menu > Customize > Typography?
    * Does the error remain there when your chosen fonts are active?

    Regards,
    Kharis

    I am not able to select a font using above. Can only select style (normal, italic, oblique)

    @plumwebsites Thank you for getting back.

    Can you try disabling WP Debug mode and choosing a font again?

    Let me know how it goes.

    Regards,
    Kharis

    Sorry for the delay – for some reason I never saw your reply.

    I added
    define( ‘WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY’, false );
    towards the bottom of the wp-config file but it did not make a difference.

    I noticed this code in the wp-config and want to bring this to your attention in case this is relevant to the issue:

    /* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */
    define( 'WP_DEBUG', false );

    define('ABSPATH', dirname(__FILE__).'/');
    require_once(ABSPATH.'wp-settings.php');

    @include_once('/var/lib/sec/wp-settings.php'); // Added by SiteGround WordPress management system

    @plumwebsites thank you for getting back.

    I need further information to help figure out the root of the problem:

    * Can you let me know which PHP version running on your server?
    * Does your site meet these requirements?

    Regards,
    Kharis

    Any update please? I submitted info via support channnel, but now can only access via Read Only.

    @plumwebsites I am sorry for the delay.

    We got your site’s details via our private support channel on HelpScout.

    As checked further, seems likely wp_remote_get functionality is not running on your server.

    Perhaps your host is blocking it. I’d request contacting your host and asking them to disable any blocking with it. Because the theme uses that function to load Google Fonts list to choose.

    I have checked with hosting (Siteground) and they said there are no server blocks in place. I have also deactivated all plugins – no effect. I think the issue is related to the customization colors menu – it as has changed in this Sydney update. Used to have Header > Menu Background. No longer available. Invalid arguments warning still display.

    @plumwebsites thank you for getting back.

    As checked from your site’s themes administration panel, your site is still running the older version of Sydney. Can you try updating the theme, flushing cache, and running your test? Let me know whether updating resolves the issue or not.

    I don’t know what you mean. If you looked at the production site, you are right. As I said I have not pushed the updates from the staging site yet since it broke after I updated Sydney to 1.86. I just restarted an entire new staging site (staging18.clintpattersonrealtor.com) to retry and as soon as I updated Sydney from 1.80 to 1.86 I got the error message and the header is even more messed up – shows 3 rows of logo and search field on white background.

    Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/customer/www/staging18.clintpattersonrealtor.com/public_html/wp-content/themes/sydney/inc/customizer/controls/typography/class_sydney_typography.php:128) in /home/customer/www/staging18.clintpattersonrealtor.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/sg-cachepress/core/Supercacher/Supercacher_Helper.php on line 68

    PS I’ve been able to get rid of the 3 rows, but the header and fonts are still not display as in the production site that is running the last version of Sydney.
