Problems with latest update 5.7

On the Activity tab, you can see everything in details. The plugin logs all the actions that have been taken. You need to inspect the activity log to find out the reason.

If an IP address is locked out, all requests to REST API are denied and comments are marked as spam.

That’s where I got the info from and realized that my IP address had been locked out, denied and etc. However, after having removed my IP and whitelisted it, I still had issues. Is there anything else in addition to what I did to resolve this issue?

Like I said, I removed my IP from the lockout list and included it in the whitelist but it didn’t resolve the issue.

I confirm this issue in v. 5.7. If you have an IP in the white access list, it does not prevent it from being locked out as a suspicious IP. It will be fixed ASAP.

With the Latest update I can not enter my admin panel (www.mysite.com/wp-admin/)

Every time I get “white screen of death”. I had to deactivate plugin, now site works fine. Just would like to share, so you can fix it. Thanks. ??

@pejoumag To enter your site you need to use either /wp-login.php or your Custom login URL if you’ve set one. The URL /wp-admin/ is not a login page and normally you should not use it. The default WordPress login page is /wp-login.php. If you’ve set up the Custom login page, then you should use it. Anyway, disable this setting: “Disable automatic redirecting to the login page when /wp-admin/ is requested by an unauthorized request” to let you use /wp-admin/ as the login page.

The issue with IP in white access list has been fixed in the development version 5.7.2 https://wpcerber.com/development-version/

We also had a problem with the update. The site was totally down after it.

Our hoster quoted this:
[Mon Nov 13 13:54:05 2017] [warn] [client xx.xxx.xx.xxx] mod_fcgid: stderr: PHP Fatal error: Call to a member function getSettings() on a non-object in /var/www/hosts/000252/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/wp-cerber/settings.php on line 913

The problem seems to be, that the pugin directory wp-cerber was renamed into wp-cerber _org

We disabled the plugin, now the site is working again.

What a nightmare. All sites updated and now must go in the back end to remove. Thanks for all the extra work.

Tip! If someone has trouble with various forms after the update, I suggest you go to the Cerber Antispam-page and disable all 3 bot detection engine for forms. Fixed a sudden headache for us.

The development version did not resolve my issue and my IP address although whitelisted is still being blocked from posting comments.

What I did was rename the existing wp-cerber folder to old-wp-cerber, installed the zip dev. version via the dashboard, activated the plugin, removed my ip in the lockout tab, made sure that my ip address is whitelisted and then tried to post a comment. I still got “ERROR: Sorry, human verification failed.”

In the activity tab event logged in for my IP states “Spam comment denied Bot detected”

Just FYI, for now I unchecked “protect comment form with bot detection engine” in Antispam as suggested by the previous user and was able to post a test comment.

It’s important to point out that I have “Disable bot detection engine for logged in users” checked but it doesn’t seem to be working properly when bot engine is enabled for comment form.
