    Hi,

After the latest update I have a few problems. Even though my IP is whitelisted, any comment I try to post gets blocked with “ERROR: Sorry, human verification failed.”. Request to REST API is denied from my ip address and locked out. Comments are marked spam and denied, IP gets blocked and locked out.

I’m not sure if legit readers/contributors are are having the same issue and not being able to post comments so I had to deactivate cerber until this issue is resolved.

    Thank you for your time

Have you set up reCAPTCHA? Was it enabled for comments when you tried to post the comment?

No I don’t use reCAPTCHA at all. I assume you are talking about the reCAPTCHA settings of your plugin. I never set it up and just checked all entries are blank and nothing is checkmarked. I also don’t use any other reCAPTCHA plugins.

    Thanks!

I just thought it was a conflict with reCAPTCHA. Please install the latest development and test out the anti-spam settings you’ve disabled: https://wpcerber.com/development-version/

A lot of upset clients unable to login to their sites using a custom login page because your latest update changed the setting for these to ENABLED:

–Disable automatic redirecting to the login page when /wp-admin/ is requested by an unauthorized request

–Immediately block IP when attempting to login with a non-existent username

I had these disabled for some client sites for a reason – why would you reset a plugin user’s custom settings?

Thanks for the extra work, as another commenter mentioned. Will this be happening for future updates as well?

    Hi Gioni,

I installed the latest dev. version from the link you provided and I still have the same issue when I enable antispam/bot detection engine for comment form.

But this time, I get “the connection was reset” when trying to post a comment with Firefox. In the activity tab of the plugin the event logged is “spam comment denied” “Bot detected” for my IP address. When I disable bot engine detection, I can post comment without any issues.

Thanks again for looking into this! I unlike other users appreciate the time you volunteer in providing this plugin for many to use. Even though they are some issues with the latest update, it still is the best antispam/security plugin IMHO.

    Hi roxchou!

Software bugs/issues are inevitable especially when we use such an unpredictable environment as WordPress. Most unexpected issues are code incompatibility issues. Some conflicts with other plugins and themes. And I do my best to avoid that.

Could you reproduce that issue for a form on the website? I mean enable Protect all forms on the website with bot detection engine and submit a form. Will the plugin deny the submission?

Is it normal that you change a user’s settings with your updates? This hasn’t happened before, but if it’s something you plan to do again, I’d like to know so I can make other arrangements. Still getting client complaints about not being able to login because Cerber changed the setting for the custom login page without consent.

    Plugin Author gioni

    (@gioni)

@redkite It’s not normal, but clients can use either default wp-login.php or Custom login URL. Disabling redirection from wp-admin to a real login page is just an inconvenience. Let me know how did it become a disaster? I might have missed something. I just have a different experience like this: “I’ve installed your pluging, created my own, private custom login page and I still get tons of attempts to log in. Your plugin sucks.”

P.S. One of the next versions brings the ability to manage plugin settings remotely.

‘Disaster’ is not a word I used, nor was the line ‘your plugin sucks’, but it is a big inconvenience when 56 clients contact you over a period of a couple of days to let you know they can no longer login because your plugin changed their settings and you have to edit their plugin settings for them. It’s a time problem for me, and a scary situation for some of my clients, thinking they no longer have login capability. Will your future updates be changing main settings like this?

    Hi Gioni,

I enabled “Other fomrs” in Antispam and was able to use the contact form successfully and post a comment as well. Comment form is unchecked though. Did you want me to check both comment form and other forms?

    Plugin Author gioni

    (@gioni)

Yes, sure. It seems engine works well, probably some issue with the comment form. Don’t forget that you need to make tests in an incognito browser window.

    Hi Gioni,

The comment I posted last night didn’t take for some reason. So I’m reposting.

I have other issues with the latest version(s) 5.7.x of your plugin. However, when I disable your plugin, everything works.

1/ In the Plugins section of the admin dashboard, when I click on “View version” for plugins having updates, I get the following error “This page isn’t working. mydomainname didn’t send any data. ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE”.

2/ Also when quick editing a post, updating the quick edit stalls and post doesn’t get updated. Normal edit works.

Another thing I have noticed is that in the comment section of the dashboard, right below the ip address for each comment is a preloader constantly spinning.

Anyhow, when I disable your plugin I no longer have these problems. I reverted back to 5.5 and everything seems to be working.

Hope you can figure out what’s going on.

    Thanks for your time

Could you test out the latest development version? Some improvements have been made.

    Get it here: https://wpcerber.com/development-version/

Hi Gioni, with the latest dev. version, the other 2 issues were resolved and I no longer see a preloader in the comments window.

However, I still cannot post a comment and get “ERROR: Sorry, human verification failed.” when “protect comment form with bot detection engine” is checked in antispam and in activity event for my ip address is the same ==> spam comment denied bot detected.

I even tried posting a comment with safe mode under adjust antispam engine checked. The only thing I can do is uncheck protect comment form with bot detection engine.

Using contact form works. There are no other forms on the website for me to test.

    Thanks again

One more issue. Jetpack stats don’t load anymore. However, when I disable your plugin stats load immediately.

I have “Allow REST API for logged in users” checked and jetpack as a namespace exception. Jetpack stats don’t display even when I disable REST API.

    Thanks
