Problems with logging in

    My daughter has a site at https://horsecountrybook.com/

    Recently she noticed that the site wasn’t looking right and when she tries to login at https://horsecountrybook.com/wp-admin/ she gets an error message saying:

    The page isn’t redirecting properly

    Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

    This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

    The first thing I did was disable the plugins thinking it might have been a plugin she installed. But no go. So then I did a manual upgrade of her WordPress version hoping that would solve the problem. Still no go. I’ stuck as to what else to do as I cannot get the wp-admin page to load. What else should I be doing please?

    Have you tried clearing your browser cache & cookies?

    Any chance that this problem developed after an update? (I realize you said you made a manual upgrade, but did the problem start with a one-click update from the dashboard?)

    Any chance that the .htaccess got edited? (Sometimes plugins do this.) If you think this might be the problem, you can backup and remove the .htacess and see if that solves it. (Regenerate a new .htaccess by saving your permalinks again, and add back any special rules you need to have.)

    Thanks for that. Clearing the cookies did it. Don’t understand why it got screwed up in the first place as it was working fine before. But all sorted now. Thank you.
