    Hi
I’ve just upgraded to the latest version of NextGen Gallery and now my galleries do not show. I’m getting a Page Not Found error. If I uncheck the Deactivate gallery page link in the Gallery settings, clicking on the links to the galleries simply refreshes the gallery page without showing the requested gallery. If I uncheck the Activate Permalinks option in the General Options, then the galleries show but without a title or anything.

I have tried clicking the Save button to update the Permalinks, which I gather is the way to do this, but it has no effect and everything remains the same.

Also, the styling of my gallery page seems to have been lost.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

  • @BartPloom, Thank you! I re-upgraded and re-saved the page with the permalink info. This time it worked! Now I can see my photo pages but the images are HUGE and of terrible quality. Anyone else have the same issue or have any idea how to fix it? Under ‘Options’ it says they’re supposed to resize to 800 x 600 pixels at 100% quality but they have to be almost 3000 pixels wide.

I did not this post at first.

    WordPress 3.1.3
    Previuos version of next-gen gallery : 1.7.4

After upgrading to ver 1.8 I am encountering the following issues:

    1. Selecting a gallery links from an album pages using the short code [album id=2 template=extend] do not display the gallery but instead display the “page can not be found”.

Here is an example page https://www.aacabosh.org/galleries/club-events/

    2. Post which have an inserted gallery image which links to the gallery of the image do not display the image but instead display the “page can not be found”

Here is an example of this issue (if you click the image you will get a page not found – the link for the image in the post is https://www.aacabosh.org/nggallery/page-154/album-2/gallery-40/ : https://www.aacabosh.org/shows/june-5-2011-bosh-at-buffalo-township-community-day/

I downgraded the version of next-gen gallery back to v1.7.4 and restored my database and my gallery links worked again.

If I disable “Activate Permalinks” then the links to galleries from album pages will work but links to galleries in posts based on the “old” gallery url (such as https://www.aacabosh.org/nggallery/page-154/album-2/gallery-40/) still do not work.

I do not have pagination enabled.

Any ideas on how to correct/update the database so that these links work correctly?

Just check a bit more in depth, NextGEN Gallery 1.8.0 with activated permalinks(!) doesn’t support all kind of permalink structures :

    The three default structures :

    Day and name (/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/)
    Month and name (/%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%/)
    Numeric (/archives/%post_id%)

should be fine. Custom structures are a bit more tricky and can be end in an error 404. The simple structure (/%postname%/) cannot currently used, as it redirect the post name as page name (my fault, didn’t tested it good enough)

    Solution :

    a) Stay on Version 1.7.3, which should be fine
    b) Change your permalink structure ( The SEO Nightmare)
    c) Deactivate just the Gallery permalinks (See gallery settings)

I’m looking into this, but it will take more time and I’m not sure if I will get a final solution for all kind of combinations. Thanks for your understanding.

Even with the custom links mine is now working. But the size of the images is HUGE and pixelated. Do you have any advice for fixing this?

    Same problem here…
    WordPress 3.1.3
    next-gen gallery : 1.8.0

    My structure is /%category%/%postname%/

Permalinks don’t work for paged gallery: either end into the main gallery page, or into a post with similar name…

BTW, thanks anyway for this great plugin;-)

    I’ve the same prob

    I’ve installed NExtGen 1.8 –> doesn’t work than I downgraded to 1.7.4 –> doesn’t work

    Has someone an idea?

After I downgraded back to NextGen 1.7.4 I had to restore my SQL database for WordPress from backup, which then restored the old permalinks to match version 1.7.4

I had the same issue @joernber. I re-installed NextGen 1.8 and then simply ‘saved’ the permalink page. It solved the problem, although now my images are gigantic! Hope that helps!

    Hello again,
I’ve just made an update to 1.8.1. I’ve set “Number of images per page” on 15 but still can see all images in gallery. I cannot see pagination, maybe i’m doing something wrong.

What are proper steps to set up pagination in gallery?
Do you have the same problem maybe?

    my examlple: https://www.socharska.pl/pl/galerie-zdjec-slubnych/przygotowania/

    Best Regards

I have the same problem, and hopefully we can find an answer soon. I have one pissed of client whose whole site is based off of image galleries and I have had to take his site down since this thing has broken it.

There is no need to take down a site, if you read my above post

    @alex,

Hi Alex, you wrote about 3 possible permalink structures that should work. Does it mean that (/%postname%/) structure will not be supported by NexGenGallery anymore? It is propably important information for those of us who got this kinda link.

BTW – Great work, i appreciate this ??

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for your hard work, i see v1.8.1, has been released, has this sorted out the permalink issues?

    Martin

No, I’m still working on this…

    Hey Alex,

/%category%/%postname%/ is my permalink structure. Although it isn’t the default structure it is the one most used… can you support this?
