• I’m having a problem with the responsive menu. I have used the theme for a client and she has the following problem when using the site on her iPad and her iPhone which I cannot replicate. She has videoed it and sent it to me so I can see it is happening.(I can send you the videos if you wish).

She clicks on the responsive menu to get the dropdown, then she expands an item to show its submenu but if she then clicks on something on the main menu it takes her to a different page from the one she has clicked on.

It seems to only be a problem on iPads and iPhones when viewing in landscape. It occurs on iPad 2 with iOS7 but not iOS8. Any suggestions? I have applied the upgrade and it still has not fixed it.

Hi there, I’m seeing that behavior on the site you reference, but cannot reproduce it on the Bushwick demo site on my iPad.

I notice that the menu on your client’s site is designed differently from the one on the demo site. I disabled all nav related CSS in your custom CSS and the issue still remains, and the design did not revert back to the original. Are you by any chance using a plugin for the menu? Which version of Bushwick do you have installed? The current version is 1.2.3.

Sorry, I should have mentioned I’m on iOS8.1.2.

Thank you for looking at this.

    The bushwick version is 1.2.3.

There are no plugins related to the menu. My client wanted some non-clickable parent items on the menu but apart from that there are no changes to the menu.

My client did not like the design of the mid-sized menu where the featured image takes over the whole screen on her tablet/phone so I adjusted the @media elements on the style sheet. The only change I made was to alter @media(max-width: 641px) to @media(max-width: 1023px) so that there are now two @media(max-width: 1023px). Could this be where the problem lies?

Hmmm, yes, that could be the issue. I would suggest setting that back to 641px. If that clears up the problem, I would suggest editing the existing 1023px rule to get the behavior and look your client wants.

Also, I would suggest using a Child Theme so that your changes aren’t overwritten by a future theme update.

So instead of having @media(max-width: 1023px) followed by another @media(max-width: 1023px) should I bring the css together under one @media(max-width: 1023px)?

    I set my test site back to the default Bushwick theme and removed all the additional css I had added (except that related to the contact form, the booking system and the amazon widget) and unfortunately my client gets the error still. This is how she describes it;

With big apple, the menu is horizontal across the top of the screen on landscape mode on the ipad and works perfectly in all directions. On the phone, the menu is vertical on landscape mode and this is ok unless you have opened a menu, e.g. Book now, and then want to click a different menu like blog instead of the first menu option that you clicked. Clicking on blog then closes the original book now menu and opens a different one, because the menu is then in a different place and blog is no longer where you were pointing. Does that make sense? Happy to video it if needs be.

Any suggestions on how to fix it? I can get a video of the problem to you if that helps.

    Many thanks

@znwd, I’ve tested Bushwick on my site and I am able to reproduce this behavior with a standard setup. I’m going to file a bug report on this and also chat with our developers to see if there is something I can give you to fix the issue until the update comes out. It will likely be Monday before I can get back to you.

@znwd, can you have your client do the video for us to have a look at?

I have a video how can I send it to you? Thanks Zoe

@znwd, many thanks for the video. I’m filing a bug report on this. If you could keep your test site up, and also keep the video up, we would appreciate it. I’ll link to those in the bug report.

I’ve been able to randomly recreate this on iOS8, but part of that could be operator error on my part. ;-P
