    I’m fairly new at Word Press and have a problem with the setup of my current website. I cannot find how to remove the large black area under my title on the home post. It may be a background problem?
    I obviously made a change and it appeared.

    I would welcome any help.

    So it looks like you’re using Twentyfourteen as your theme? That’s part of how twentyfourteen works – it’s a “magazine” style theme that expects a featured image (that black area above your post is to hold the featured image). You can work around that by using custom css to hide the “featured” image part of the theme (make sure to use a child theme if you do this) or you can find a theme that may better suit your needs.

    Back up your theme files first.

    Then try to delete:

    <div id="featured-content" class="featured-content">
        <div class="featured-content-inner"></div>

    GL.
