    Hi,

I am still preparing a multi-lingual store on our staging server and running into some issues with the translation of the WooCommerce Order confirmations emails with Loco Translate. I have uploaded a jpg file onto Google Drive to clarify the issue.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BjxONFKmaemy5AYjoV7GXMcPwrz8uM3g/view?usp=sharing

We have the Chinese language turned on. If a customer checks out in Chinese, we receive the email seen in the JPG above. I am currently in the process of editing the PO files and have no problem translating the standard fields such as: product, qty, price, subtotal etc. which are all strings part of the PO file.

My main problem is the product name. It seems this can not be translated using the PO file and without the English product name, the sales rep in charge or myself have no idea what the customer ordered just by looking at the email. It only becomes clear upon login to admin and within the Woocommerce – Orders section.

    2 other small issues are:

    – “data-trpgettextoriginal=” appearing at the beginning of the email.

    – Mr. 克里斯·奥凯(Jim Beam) some chinese lettering appearing before the name and street address.

For some reason, it appears that only this very 1st order confirmation email is being sent out in the language the customer chose to checkout with. I have changed the order status several times and every single email which was sent from the store afterwards was in English. I am not really sure if this is intended like that and the default way.

If that’s really the case that only the 1st email gets sent in a different language other than English (which makes not much sense to me), I would like to change this very first order confirmation email to be sent out in English as well.

I am thinking that there must be some sorta hook or filter which will lie to the cart upon checkout that the customer is using English and not XYZ language.

    Any help is highly appreciated!

    Thank you very much!

    Chris

    Hello Chris,

The WooCommerce emails are actual templates (like theme files) so it means you can translate whatever is localized using gettext in them. https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Plugin_API/Filter_Reference/gettext

Our plugin doesn’t yet detect these strings because they are not visible in the front-end, only processed. The good news is that most languages already have these translated properly.

Alternatively, you can also use LocoTranslate in order to translate these strings https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/loco-translate/.

A side note to take into account: while emails that get sent after a user action are translated correctly, out of order emails like reminders (if you use subscriptions) will always be sent in the default language as we don’t store the user language in order to know in what language we should send the email.

    Regarding the other issues:

You might have a bug or conflict with your current theme / plugins.

Can you please visit TranslatePress -> Settings -> Advanced

Then, enable these features 1 by 1 in this order and try to see if it makes a difference. Disable them back if it makes no difference. Also please disable or clear the cache if you have any.

    1. Fix spaces between HTML attributes
    2. Fix broken HTML
    3. Fix missing dynamic content
    4. Disable dynamic translation

Please let me know if this changes anything!

    Best regards,

    Hi Dragos,

Unfortunately, it does not change anything at all whatsoever. I am still desperately looking for a solution. Let me know if you have any other suggestions.

    Thanks,
    Chris
