Hello,i have been testing your plugin for the past week and it seems prety good so far i have only 1 problem with it

i use the PT-BR translation (Portuguese Brazilian) and most of it is OK but on the booking form itself there is a “sort of” mistake where Time is translated as Tempo where it should be Hórario.

i have read on your documentation that i could edit the translation by editing the .MO file with Poedit and when i load the translation, sure is has the correct translation in there….

so,where should i go to edit the booking form itself?

    Time translated incorrectly

    Translation opened with Poedit

Any help you can give me is very much apreciated =)

    Thanks

  • Hi @gabrielpaiva,

I’m not very familiar with the normal PoEdit process. But my understanding is that you load up the .po file, make your changes, and then output a .mo file. You can then dump this into /wp-content/languages/plugins/restaurant-reservations.mo.

However, most of my customers find it easier to use the Loco Translate plugin. It provides an area in your WordPress admin where you can manage translations for all plugins and themes on your site.

i tried that too, sorry for not beeing specific

the problem is that the plugin does not obey the translation,i think it might be getting them from somewere else since that “Tempo” translation is not present in the file MO file delivered in 1.7 (used Ctrl F function on Loco Plugin to search for it)

is there a possibility the theme or something else might be able to override the translation somehow?

@gabrielpaiva, yes there are a few commercial themes out there that completely override the booking form. However, they don’t typically provide pt_BR translations too.

It could be down to where the translation is getting stored. I’m not too familiar with the details, but there are a few locations that translations can get stored and read:

    /wp-content/translations/plugins/
    /wp-content/plugins/restaurant-reservations/languages/
    /languages (I think)

And depending on where they’re stored, I think that WordPress loads them in different orders. My first recommendation would be to look in your theme for the translation. If you don’t find anything there, maybe try playing around with where you’re saving the .MO files in Loco Translate.

If I recall correctly, when you start a translation, you can choose where to save it, and this sometimes makes a difference.

Sorry I can’t be more specific in my help. I’ve made the plugin as localizable as possible, but because I don’t often do translations myself I’m not that familiar with how to deal with things when they go wrong.

    That was exactly it !

I was editing the folder /wp-content/plugins/restaurant-reservations/languages/
but there was also a translation MO file at /wp-content/translations/plugins/ for some reason

as soon as I deleted the PT-BR file from that second folder the “correct” translation with all my changes loaded right up !

    Thank you !

There you go! Just a heads-up: when you update the plugin, anything under /wp-content/plugins/restaurant-reservations will get replaced. Instead, I’d recommend moving your custom translation into the /wp-content/translations/plugins/ directory. That way it won’t get disturbed by an update.

Thank you,i also see that the Pt-BR translation is not complete on the 1.7 version due to some added features i think, once i fully complete it i will share with you here so you can add it..

Thank you for such a awesome plugin ! =D

Thanks! I always appreciate reviews for the plugin here:
