I have several problems with version 8.0, I had to go back to version 7.9.3.

Intent payments (event payment_intent.created) were no longer displayed in my Stripe panel, I could only see successful payments.

Then, the card form was indeed the “new experience” one, but the alternative payment methods were displayed in a list as when the new experience is disabled, and not in inserts above the form. Capture attached.

Please note that the payment page is indeed excluded from the cache.

    Thanks for your help.

    ?? hi @triphop59182

Thanks for reaching out about this.

Intent payments (event payment_intent.created) were no longer displayed in my Stripe panel, I could only see successful payments.

Could you elaborate further on where you were expecting to see the PaymentIntents?

When testing, with a test site of mine, they appeared as expected, in the Order Notes section. Below, I am attaching a screenshot, for reference.

Could you please provide us with a screenshot so that we can see what you are describing?

If you don’t already have a screenshot service installed, here are a few free options:

There is also a walkthrough guide here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/

Then, the card form was indeed the “new experience” one, but the alternative payment methods were displayed in a list as when the new experience is disabled, and not in inserts above the form. Capture attached.

When testing this, with a test site of mine, running Stripe version 8.0.0, and the Storefront theme (linked here) active, the front end looked as follows:

Without the new checkout experience enabled. Direct link to image: https://snipboard.io/dfYpqn.jpg
With the new checkout experience active. Direct link to image: https://snipboard.io/F3Abv6.jpg

I hope this is helpful! We look forward to your response. In the meantime, please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Hello,

    Is my capture visible above?

As I said, it’s the form for the new experience, but the payment methods are listed instead of appearing in inserts. Please take a look at my capture. The empty red box shows you what’s missing, and the arrows what shouldn’t appear. But on 7.9.3 everything is ok.

Concerning the payment intent that are no longer visible, I’m talking about the Stripe site. With 7.9.3 I can see them, with 8.0.0 I can’t. Here is a new capture. Thanks a lot.

    ?? hi @triphop59182

Thank you for reaching back, clarifying things further.

Per the chengelog (linked here), with version 8.0.0:

it’s the form for the new experience, but the payment methods are listed instead of appearing in inserts. Please take a look at my capture. The empty red box shows you what’s missing, and the arrows what shouldn’t appear. But on 7.9.3 everything is ok.

    * Add – Implement split Payment Elements (or split UPE), splitting the payment method types under the updated checkout experience into different gateways.

Concerning the payment intent that are no longer visible, I’m talking about the Stripe site. With 7.9.3 I can see them, with 8.0.0 I can’t.

    * Tweak – Orders with trash status are not retrieving anymore when calling get_order_by_intent_id function.

I trust this provides clarity, but if you have more questions, let us know.

    We’re happy to help.

I don’t quite understand. Do you mean that these two new drawbacks are “normal” and were foreseen in the new version? And that they will never be corrected?

    Hi again, @triphop59182!

Thanks so much for reaching back out to us.

Kindly note, the WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway plugin evolves, and that’s both to be expected and great news. That allows for more security in the face of all sorts of attacks your site might be experiencing; more features allowing you to reach new heights with your site – such as, for instance, the updated interface for customizing Stripe payment methods.?It’s unreasonable to expect things to stay the way they were before, as things evolve all around us. You’re likely not using the phone you were using 10 years ago etc.

So technology evolves, and there’s no stopping it. Does it cause some work? Sure. But when you engage on a web project, that too is to be expected.

As always, you’re more than welcome to participate on the project, via its GitHub page, and also review and submit feature requests via this screen.

Looking forward to seeing your site grow with us, @triphop59182 ??

You have a strange concept of what you call evolution.

My phone isn’t the same as it was 10 years ago, but I’d be surprised if the next one didn’t have a camera because it’s more secure.

Not to mention the horrible graphical interface now that payment methods are stacked in a checklist, not using the “payment intent” event is a real step backwards, even though Stripe offers it and all other payment plugins use it.

It’s true that the simpler it is, the more secure it is. But I’d rather opt for a plugin that evolves its code to stay secure, than one that removes options because it can’t do otherwise.

Now I understand why most other plugins are not free.

    All the best.

    Hi @triphop59182 ??

Let’s focus on the following, for a moment:

not using the “payment intent” event is a real step backwards

As showcased in an earlier message, found linked here, Payment Intents continue to be created, and logged, successfully.

Please note, troubleshooting what is appearing on the screens at dashboard.stripe.com is outside the scope of the support provided in this forum.

In order to investigate what is happening at your site further (and if there is an issue with the Stripe functionality), kindly provide us with a screenshot of the Account details section, as showcased here.

Important to note: this is a public forum, therefore, it is recommended to redact customer data information before sharing logs/screenshots here.

We await your response to better assist you.

It’s not a problem on Stripe’s side, as I told you the payment intentions appear with 7.9.3 and not with 8.0.0…

But don’t bother, I’m in the process of changing my payment plugin. I’m glad I was able to use this free solution, but I’m discovering its limits for a serious business.

I wish you all the best for the future.
