I’ve just installed version 3.1 and blog is looking good generally except the visual editor is no longer functioning properly.

There are no buttons at the top of the text box, the text is set to be white, so you can only see it when you highlight or switch to the HTML view. Also when you do switch from HTML back to visual, the html tags are still visible.

    Anyone resolved this?

I have de-activated my plugins hoping that this would resolve – it did not. I have checked the active_plugin row within the db and that was zero so it had registered the deactivation correctly.

    Any ideas out there please?

  • hmm, i don’t have a langs folder ??

That’s what I meant, just create one in the path where it’s missing.

cool, and where can i get a copy of the en.js file?

nope, didn’t fix my problem (found the file further up the file tress)

Just rename or duplicate and rename wp-langs-en.js to en.js

Hi another 123reg customer here I have a possible solution that worked for me.

Go into Your settings -> General section of your admin.
In Site URL or Home URL is there a colon ‘:’ ?

I had one added by 123reg, removing the colon bought back the visual editor.

For those more advanced users you can check this also through phpMyAdmin. in the wp_options table look fro siteurl

I hope it works for you too

My pleasure higltypig, it’s nice to be able to give back after getting help here in the past.

I had similar problems to everyone here, I wasn’t getting most of the options in my editor and I had tried every other editor-plugin out there EXCEPT FCKEditor.(which worked)
I tried EVERYTHING in this thread, NOTHING worked until I got to this post,

After checking all what I could I solved installing the FCKEditor plugin. It actually overrides the default editor and it is a bit more complete as well…

Here there is the link to download it:

    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/fckeditor-for-wordpress-plugin/

    I am running,
    The latest PHP 5.2
    The Latest FireFox 6.2

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, I now how everything I need and then some for options in my editor.

    Thank you themightyant!

We have a website hosted with 123 Reg and had same probs with visual editor. Your fix worked a treat.

garychild1953 — Many, many, many thanks. After spending many hours on this problem your fix worked like a charm! This problem occurred for me in version 3.2.1, only on Firefox. I am now confident that I can upgrade some other blogs without this becoming a major issue. Did I say thank you?

Similar problems… not resolved by de-activating plugins or changing to 2010 theme.

Also notice “Screen Options” and “Help” buttons are not working at all.

    Currently on version 3.2.1

No other changes on the site so these problems were imported with the latest updates and so it seems WP needs to provide a comprehensive fix. The product is designed as a point and click interface so my feeling is that editing config files is a temporary workaround suitable for expert admins only.

Please update the status of WP’s work on these problems; ie, is anyone really working on them?

    Thx!

There are no outstanding issues in WordPress 3.1 but you should be running 3.2.1 by now.,

    Yes I am… so you’re recommending a rollback to 3.1? Ouch!

I’d suggest that you start by posting a new topic.
