Problems with WordPress 2.2.1

Yesterday I attempted to install the latest version of WordPress but it would simply not connect to the database. After two hours of battering my head against a brick wall as to why it would not connect I gave up the ghost and reinstalled the previous version.

I dont know if anyone else has had a similar problem but for some reason but just thought i would mention it here as it may be a bug.

Before anyone mentions that the database may have been down, it wasnt. It was functioning correctly and I could conect to it via phpMyAdmin or with a different version of WordPress but not this latest version. Odd indeed.
