I had several subpages with a parent page. I created a category and switched all of them to posts.

After this, inside the Yoast Breadcrumbs the category was not shown. I solved this problem by setting the wp_post.post_parent to “0”.

Now, I’m unsure, if this is a bug of Yoast or of the Post Type Switcher. So I posted the problem on the Yoast support forum and here. May one of both developer solve this issue for other people. I solved the problem for my self with setting the post_parent value of the switched posts to “0”. But a lot of WordPress users can’t do this by itselfs…

Once again: I don’t need any further assistance, for me this problem is solved.

Interesting. Thanks for letting everyone know.

My guess is that Yoast breadcrumbs tries to use the post_parent first if it’s not empty, but because the post_type‘s do not match, it probably gets confused.

If I’m right, I’m not sure if that’s something the Post Type Switcher plugin should try to enforce, because mixed post_type relationships can happen and are supported (WordPress itself does this internally, as does bbPress.)

If I’m wrong, it may be a quirk of how Yoast’s breadcrumbs just need to work. Hard to say.

    Thanks again!

    Hi there,

I got inspired by this post and found another easier work around and I would like to share it here.

Just change the Parent from whatever it was to None before the application of Post Type Swicher, the Yoast breadcrumb will work then, my 2 cents.
