• Hello and thank you very much for your plugin and awesome support you provide here.

Since a month I switched from WP-cron to server cron (every 5 min). I know that it’s not recommanded for this plugin to disable WP-cron, but also this is a good practice for performance reasons so it worth trying as I don’t have thousands products.

As a result, my feed doesnt update since this change. I checked the logs and my 4 feeds were never updated since. Now the interesting part that makes me write this message today:

Whether I update feeds manually (stuck at 33%) or let the scheduled update (twicedaily) the “tmp” files are created and they look perfectly good. All the products I need (over 150 products) especially new products that are missing in my feed since a month.

How can you explain this ? The temporary file is fine, but the feed xml file is never overwritten. Like the plugin does 99% of the job but doesn’t go all the way.

Of course I can reactivate WP-cron if I have no choice, but I feel like I’m close to the goal and I find it a shame to give up here.

Thank you in advance for your help ??

  • Hi,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

When the plugin is done processing the tmp file and the processing status shows “ready” the tmp version is being copied to the final version.

Does the plugin show “ready” as processing status?

Thank you for your quick reply.

The processing get stuck to 33% if I run manually, but then I have to stop it (after waiting few hours/days) and it stay “stopped” forever.

I tried to disable/enable feeds : the “tmp” file is generated in few seconds and are correct but no final xml file in my folder (and status stay “stopped”)

When the processing is on 33% than the _tmp file also contains only 33% of your products and not all of them.

So when it gets stuck on 33% it means that probably the feed gets stuck in the first batch and the follow-up batches never got executed. That is exactly the risk there is when disabling the WP-cron.

    See:

We really advice you to enable the WP-cron for a smooth updating process of your feeds.

I can confirm that the _tmp files contain 100% of the products requested according to my filters and contain no errors.

I even manually uploaded these files to Google Merchant and Facebook, and it worked fine.

In fact, I could even cheat by pointing to URL of the temporary files from Google and Facebook, that should work but it’s not very clean. ??
