Product Add Ons WooThemes via ajax

I am using the Produc Add Ons plugin on a Woocommerce build.

We have quite a lot of custom functions for ajax add to cart, remove item etc.

Is there a way to get the personalisation information $cart_item_data via a function with ajax at all?

I could possibly generate this information myself, but it would be quite time consuming and would also possibly skip things such as validation?

Any help or pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.
