product archive layout vs universal layout?

    Hello,
    What is the difference between product archive layout and product universal layout?
    I use berocket grid / list and filter plugins, and saw that they worked directly with archive layout but not with universal layout.
    The pagination of berocket grid list plugin, ( 12/24/48/all ) does not work yet with archive layout, i am also wondering how i can make this work.

    Is there documentation about the elements, their workings and how to connect them with plugins such as the ones from berocket?

    Product archive layout only for shop page.
    Universal layout show in your home page about us page etc.
