    Hi

I can’t seem to get my images to crop square 1:1.

The above page is an example.

Yesterday I had a nice neat site and then today I added a new product which Woo left rectangular. I thought, obviously wrongly, that I should regen all the images but all that’s happened is it’s starting to make all my images rectangular.

In the theme optimizer I have clicked on 1:1. I don’t know what else to do to try and rectify this. Any help is very much appreciated.

    Hi there,

I looked at the URL you included and it seems your product images on that page are displaying in a 1:1 or square format. The first image may have been uploaded in a rectangular format or insufficient size so it was cropped short. It’s recommended you upload your images at 800 x 800 pixels minimum for best results. Keep in mind that regenerating thumbnails can take a while if you have many images uploaded to your media gallery.

It appears you have resolved some of the issues you were having, but please let us know if you need further help with the issue.

Thanks @lindamork I started to retake my photos so thats why that page looks all square.
However, my images for 5 years have always been rectangular and woo cropped them square. It’s only when I uploaded a new product last week and I noticed it wasn’t square that I set a regeneration off. When I realised the regeration was changing the images from square to rectangle I stopped it running.

    Hi there,

There must have been an update to your theme or a plugin that’s caused this then. You have my deepest understanding, it’s not a nice thing to have things change like that!

Keep an eye out on the format ratio as that’s what controls your image format. You were right to click the 1:1 setting in order to keep them square. My best guess is that a theme update changed these settings to a rectangular or uncropped format as themes have varying degrees of control over images with WooCommerce.
