    Hello!

I am hoping you can help me. I want to be able to see how many products we have sold for a specific product category. I am using the plugin called Enhanced E-commerce for Woocommerce to get E-commerce data into Google Analytics.

When I am in the report Conversions – E-commerce – Overview in Google Analytics and I click on a Product category to make it my primary dimension I can see a lot of statistics, however all of the different categories with data are categories that have been lumped together.

For example we sell a rotisserie that can be found under the main category “grill accessories” and the subcategory “grill sets and rotisseries”. I can not view statistics for ONLY the main category, all I can see is statistics for “grill accessories/grill sets and rotisseries”.

I unfortunately cannot provide a screenshot here to show you but hopefully you understand my problem.

So what I am wondering is Why is this, and how can I fix it? In Woocommerce all of the product categories are separate from each other to I don’t understand why they get lumped together in Google Analytics.

    Thanks for your help!

    Best regards,
    Isabella

    Hi @isabella92

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you on this.

For example we sell a rotisserie that can be found under the main category “grill accessories” and the subcategory “grill sets and rotisseries”. I can not view statistics for ONLY the main category, all I can see is statistics for “grill accessories/grill sets and rotisseries”.

I’m not 100% sure as to why this is happening. By default, in WooCommerce (or even in WordPress for that matter), if you query a parent category, the items in subcategories are also shown. If it’s not showing up in this way within Google Analytics, I suspect that it’s a reporting problem with the analytics plugin that you use which fails to associate the parent category with the product.

Could you pass along this problem to the developers of the plugin? They should be able to look into this and to provide a solution for you.

    I hope that helps!
