product categories on e-commerce display strangely

I’m using the e-commerce with crafty cart. I have a number of categories with products in them. My problem is that when I click on a particular category, it brings up the title of one of my products, then a list of categories and after that all the products that are actually in the category. I know there must be a way to get rid of the unwanted bits at the top and change them to the name of the category I have clicked on but afraid I am clueless. I even tried making a new page for one category and asking it just to display that but the extra bits still came up at the top.

Can anyone help? It’s driving me nuts and I may be forced to abandon categories altogether as this looks awful.
