Product Descriptions

    Hi! I sell mostly jewelry and a few other accessories. I really don’t want to have much of a description. All I really need to state is the size and what’s it’s made of. The photos speak for themselves, so words are really just unnecessary. I’ve been adding descriptions only because of the SEO and Readability rankings. Is there any way that I can basically just leave out the descriptions without destroying the SEO and Readability? I find that most of the descriptions are just unnecessary.

  • You can use a SEO plugin like Yoast or All in One SEO Pack. They will allow you to add metadata for search engine bots about posts/pages/products without having it be visible on the site to human users.

    That said, be sure to add Alt Text descriptions to your images so that users with visual impairments will still be able to access the information they need.

    Hi, Homemadejam. Thank you so much for the info! I have SEO Yoast, so I will look into how to add the metadata (and learn about it. I’ve just been adding info in the description boxes).
