I’m having trouble with my WooCommerce product downloads. The WooCommerce download link sends users to a 404 page instead of the direct download link.

    Here’s an example page: https://africaread.org/novels/the-lost-coin-2/

I’ve tried may options including deactivating plugins, themes, but problem still persist. I also copied the raw file url from the media library and tried to access it …still 404 error.

I saw a previous thread on this issue but seemed it didn’t get solved.

Please help me fix this. Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi @aldoc!

As a first step, please refresh the permalinks from your dashboard, under “Settings > Permalinks”. There is no need to make any changes, just re-save your settings and have another go, to see if that resolves the issue.

    Cheers!

Hi @aldoc. When you say “the WooCommerce download link sends users to a 404 page”, is this the link from the Media Library or the link sent to a customer when they have purchased the downloadable product? If you are referring to the direct link from Media Library which has been added as the downloadable file for a product in Product Dagta, the 404 error is expected when Force Downloads is enabled. This method protects files from direct linking.

As far as the link – https://africaread.org/novels/the-lost-coin-2, is it supposed to load a particular product? I noticed that this free product loads fine – https://africaread.org/novels/loved/

Could you please let me know if the issue persists?
