Product Images Are To Large

    Product images are driving me nuts!

    How do I force a product image to stay a certain size? When I post a small pic in the 350 x 350 range they turn out to large on the product page. Here is an example https://snuffbottlestoppers.com/product/bone-snuff-bottle-stopper-spoon-2%e2%80%b3-51mm-q191/

    The main product image is to large, and the image that pops up when you click on the product image is much closer to the size originally uploaded.

    How do I force the size of the product pic to stay in the size range I upload, and still show a slightly enlarged version when clicked on?

    I did not have any problems for the first couple hundred product listings, then things just started going wrong yesterday.

    Sorry to hear that.

    It appears to be the behavior of the theme, which is causing product images’ size to be large. Just to confirm – did this behavior start after you updated your theme? Or after you made any other changes/updates recently?

    If so then you’ll want to get in touch with your theme’s author to take a closer look at it. I see you’re using Flatsome, so you can get in touch with the support team here – https://themeforest.net/item/flatsome-multipurpose-responsive-woocommerce-theme/5484319/support

    In case nothing was changed recently and the theme wasn’t updated either then please share a copy of your site’s System Status so we can take a closer look. You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

    I was able to successfully list a couple hundred products and then yesterday the problem started.

    I have not done any kind of updates or added anything, but I think WP does updates on it’s own from time to time, as does Flatsome.

    I switched to a default theme to see if the problem persists, and it did not. So I read that the next step is to contact the author of the theme (Flatsome Child theme) to ask for help.

    I did find the author and sent him a message asking for help.

    Upon inspecting the page with the image I found that it is showing an error: Images loaded lazily and replaced with placeholders.

    Thank you so very much for taking the time to help with my problem. I greatly appreciate you.

    I am brand new to WP and it has been all I can do just to get the site set up. When solutions start to get over my ability to understand, this all becomes overwhelming.

    Reading the reported link, this is way over my ability to understand. I do not know what I am looking at or what it means. Cannot tell if there is a solution there that can be tried. If there is, I would not be able to understand it or know what to do.

    I can see that there is a recent post on Jan 6th 2022 referencing Blink>LazyLoad but it does not look like it was fixed. There is also someone who posted back on Aug 7, 2019 that they fixed it, but they must have only been able to fix their own site and not the underlying problem within the theme.

    You point out the error, but the impression I get from the report link you shared is that this Blink>LazyLoad has to do with slow loading images. It does not sound like it is related to my image size problem.

    I have no idea what to do with the information, or how to apply a solution. I can see that I have met my first WP problem that is way over my pay grade ! ??

    No idea how or where to apply this “Yoast SEO: by Team Yoast – 17.8” to see if temporarily switching off Yoast plugin helps.

    I did find the author for my Flatsome Child theme and sent him a message for help.

    Starting to get the feeling this is not actually a problem with my Flatsome Child theme, but instead a WordPress bug of some sort, is that correct?

    I cannot tell who or what This Bugs is or how it is related to WP, Woocommerce, or my Flatsome theme.

    Sorry, guess this newbie should just stop rambling on so much.

    Hello there,

    Regarding the reported link it contains more information about the image error.

    What Margaret is saying is to please deactivate (temporary) the Yoast SEO Plugin, you can do this on your site under Plugins > installed plugins, then locate the plugin (Yoast in this case) and deactivate. After that, please try again to check if the issue persists.

    Your Flatsome theme controls how product images are displayed in your store. You can read more about this at Image Sizes for Theme Developers.

    The best way forward here would be to reach out to the theme developers and request them to make the customization as per your store requirements.
