When I click on the link in he inspection report, it is showing the image. But why is the image not showing in the email customizer?

That is showing that whatever lazy load plugin you are using it’s incorrectly running for email images. You would just need to turn that off.

I am also getting an image issue: ALL images in the email including header image, product image and social icons appear as broken in the test email (but look fine in the WP customizer)…

Hey @muteyaar, I suggest you go through all your plugins and deactivate one by one, it’s certainly an issue with something outside this plugin and woocommerce that is adding lazy load.

Hey @mimibondi, is your site public? It has to be a public site on a live server for the images to load.

Can you post a screen shot? If you right click and inspect the code using chrome can you see what the code output is?

Most every email platform (gmail, hotmail, etc) will block images from loading initially until the user clicks to display them. I am assuming you are seeing something different from this but thought it worth mentioning.

I made sure to click ‘the display’ images in the email as well as in the gmail settings (always load images from external sources).

I looked at the code and see a lot of ”’Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 ()” that correspond to the broken images.

Everything is normal in the WP customizer settings, I just checked again and all images are there…
Does that make any sense?

404 is an error for not found. do the urls that are 404 have something wrong in the domain? can you post one here?

Well, the plugins social images are part of this plugin, they should be there and given that you can see them in the customizer I would suggest they are there. Which means you need to find out why you can’t navigate to them in your browser:

That I’m guessing is going to be related to your server settings. It’s as if you have a security block preventing those from being accessed.

Plus it’s very strange that your file isn’t loading as well.

I suggest you ask your hosting provider about it.

Hello again.
I contacted my web hosting company which confirmed it is nothing to do with them.
They think it’s to do with gmail not displaying the html content properly.
A web search said ”As a webmail client, Gmail has to take some precautions when displaying an email. Like most webmail clients, Gmail uses a preprocessor to strip any code from an email that could be a security threat or interfere with the rendering of the
client interface itself.

Commonly stripped elements include JavaScript, object and embed tags, and Flash.
Gmail goes one step further and strips out both the head and body tags, as well as
any style tags in an email.”

If this is the case then gmail may be stripping the images from your email customiser, resulting in broken images (an issue I did not have with another woocommerce email customiser).

I am unsure what to do about it as I’d really like to use your plugin but at the same time cannot have my business look unprofessional by displaying ”broken” emails…

Any thoughts?

First I should make it clear that I use this plugin in multiple live sites with tons of tests and can see it working with images in Gmail. I have many people that use it on their live sites who I know personally are using the plugin without issue. And then there are the 10,000 active users which WordPress reports here. I don’t know of anyone else having this exact problem you are where your images are showing 404 errors. So this is why I think it’s an issue related to something on your server and local to your site.

Here is how I suggest you approach the problem. If I try to navigate to this image on your site (outside of Gmail or any other email related thing) it shows 404.

Why is that? Does this mean that your image doesn’t exist on your site or does it mean that the URL to your image is incorrect?

If it doesn’t exist try uploading it to your site and using it for your emails.
If it does exist then what is incorrect about the URL? is there some special charter in the file name that should not be there in a web file?

If it does exist on your site ( you can find the image in your media library ) and the URL to that image is also correct then you must resolve this with your host by giving them the URL and asking why it’s not accessible.

If you can access the image when going to that URL, but I can’t (which is true, I can’t) that means you have a security setting, like a country block or something else that is preventing certain people from seeing the image and you need to fix that.

Focus on that one image and let’s find the solution for that, once we figure that one I bet the social media images in this plugin can also be fixed the same way.
